I installed the PL351 GIVI sideracks and e21 sidecases. The givi rack gives you a pair of brackets to get your signals out away from the bags. They can't stay in the stock locations because the stock signals are too long and would hit the bags. Anyway, the brackets they give you work fine and the signals are visible, and they don't look to bad...when the cases are on. If you want to take the cases off, however, they stick way out and look ridiculous.

Here's a shot with the cases on:

What I am thinking I would like to do is install some aftermarket signals in the stock location that are shorter and wouldn't interfere with the bags. Are there any that will work for this application that don't require the use of the adapter plates? Are there any that resemble the stock signals? (I'm anal and i would have to have the front match the rear, and I would like to retain the running light feature of the front)

Also, I don't want to get rid of my fender.

Feel free to post pics of what you have done.
