    FS: 2004 FZ6 Fast Blue

Heh, I ought to, lol. It's a beautiful machine and one that I've always wanted. Bucket loads of power and very comfortable. It's especially sensitive to tire pressures and suspension settings, with a heavier front end; however, there's a multitude of suspension adjustment points (many times more...

    looking at buying a 2004 FZ6

My 2004 only had the issues with the TPS in 2005 (shut down during acceleration...sucked), which the dealer replaced after some sweet talking, prior to the official recall. Since that episode, the bike has been completely trouble-free and strong. My wife and I started doing 2up on it all over...

    Rear sprocket nut problem

They do snug up as the center, non-threaded portion reaches the top of the hole. I imagine if one were to force the issue, they'd end up screwing up the hub threads with that center section of the stud as there is no "bottom" to the hub stud holes. Snugged up, each stud measured about 25mm from...

    Rear sprocket nut problem

Thanks for that! Confirms my thought on the process. I don't plan to force them, but I do remember them being a shade short of going full depth (when looking from the backside of the hub).

    Rear sprocket nut problem

Resurrecting an old thread, but it relates to what I'm doing on my rear hub. I'm replacing some of the studs and wondered what the best way is to get them reinstalled. Do you put two nuts (no snickering...) on the stud (one next to the other) so they'll stay in place and provide a spot for a...

    Dying by the torque wrench

Great find! That'll save me some bucks. #$#@#$ manual and wrong torque values. ;) Hopefully, I can save it and be back in business.

Heh heh, I have a wide array of tools, but alas, no welder. ;)

    Dying by the torque wrench

Yea, I'm pretty darn careful with these sorts of things. The other nuts were fine...it was just the one that let go on me. Looking at the backside of the hub, I can see the stud is still firmly in place, so it stripped out in the nut. Not sure exactly what happened, but I suppose the wrench...

    Dying by the torque wrench

I'm just about the same way for general fastening, but with critical components that bear a lot of load, I tend to torque to spec just to be safe.

    Dying by the torque wrench

Well, there I was, beautiful day outside, working on the bike in the garage...wanting to go riding later. I just lost my job this past week, so I needed some riding to get out from underneath the clouds. ;) I had the rear wheel off, cleaning the rear sprocket, hub, etc., and was putting...
