Those are the original Yamaha crash protectors yes. I would stay away from them - i have seen numerous photos of them after a crash: they break up and damage the engine side covers underneath them. You can't have a working protector placed so far away from it's only fastening bolt as Yamaha did...
A single cylinder four stroke motor on a street bike sucks bigtime for me. My first baby was a Yamaha FZX250 Zeal. Complicated and expensive to maintain motor but the sound of it at 12.000rpm (redline at 14.000) was well worth it.
Hi there, i stumbled upon the following muffler that lets you keep the bikes original look but frees up the exhaust system. Anyone heard/seen it work ?

The white one does look nice but 230kg of weight for a 750cc 2010 naked bike - are they serious? Crappy steel frames (even smartly camouflaged ones) are so obsolete...
Bah, haven't you people heard of crash-resistant hair gel and shred-proof sunblock lotion? They are used alot around where i live but for some reason there is no living proof to show how well they actualy work :D
It stays on for as long as the key is turned to ON. Also it lights up (again together with the tailight and the license plate light that i forgot to mention earlier) when you turn the key to the parking light position.
In my manual this small bulb has the description "auxiliary light".
No i don't count that one. I mean, apart from the engine and maybe the tank it's a completely different bike. If you look at the swingarm, forks etc. it has "cheap" written all over it. Or how about the frame ? After seeing the amazing piece of engineering that is the FZ6's (0 wield points)...
When i first heard of the FZ8 i became realy curious. Then i got to see it. I would love that bigger and more powerfull motor, but that aside the bike lacks on character. Back when the FZ6 family was introduced the design was something totaly new and sexy, like when the R1 was first introduced...
I too own a silver/black FZ like yours, i thought about the rims many times and since the bike already has a winning color combination of silver/black i would like to have silver painted rims to match the color of the engine-forks etc. I believe a third color doesn't fit in but it's a matter of...
CCHOUSEKY for the instrument cluster i didn't make a bracket. What i did was to find longer screws that the ones it has and then place some spacers between the instrument and it's original base. That moved the instrument 15mm towards the tank but exactly on the same axis were it originaly was. I...
Thanks for the comment.
A good question actualy.. I don't travel with the bike that much anymore but on a short weekend ride with a speed up to 120kph i didn't notice anything disturbing. At my height (1.90) the windload on a naked bike is heavy anyway, anything over 120 becomes uncomfortable...
I own a 07 FZ6N and one design point that i always disliked on the bike (that apart i find it great) is the cheap radio-alarm clock the bike has instead of a proper instrument cluster. I find it looks really bad, and is poorly placed extruding outside the front and over the headlight in every...
