    Gearbox grumbles

...when I said I checked the chain tension, that was partially true; did it about 1 1/2 months ago - did not expect it to have changed. My bike had a service about 3 weeks ago and the dealer must have removed my back wheel as part of the service / checks. When I measured my chain tension...

    Gearbox grumbles

Hi guys (and Gals), I have recently noticed a whining sound from my gearbox - a bit like a diff that is on its way out. The whine comes in at around 50Mph, 4000 revs, 5th gear and goes away when I increase speed / change gear. Because the weather has been a bit warm lately, I have been...

    Your Rider Resume

Been playing about with bikes since about 14 yrs of age. During the early years I lived in an area out in the 'sticks' - miles and miles of open hills, trails etc. First bike came in a cardboard box - 100cc Buffallo trail bike (in pieces). Apparently was a one-off venture between the...

That 600 mile sevice can be hazardous to your bikes health!

Just a quick update guys and gals. Result!! Just got my bike back today with a brand new shiny tank (complete with those hard to remove labels). Really pleased I have got my pride and joy back in its original condition. Respect to the Managing Director; he really pulled the stops out and in...

    Seat Cowl Pics(as promised)

Don't know much about this stuff yet - do the grips come with their own weights as well? Is that a knurled rubber surface on them, or are they ally? Last question, how much did you pay for them? Cheers.

    Seat Cowl Pics(as promised)

Hey, your bike looks great:thumbup: Only just had mine a while, but I can see this modding can become a bit infectious. Just love those grips!

As old as my eyes, and a bit older than my teeth;) No, that's not fair is it? 45 last April, but still a youngster at heart.

    Just curious ...

Did not realize it was a UK only colour. I will keep my eyes peeled, or maybe take some video footage of the motorway and play it back in slow motion;)

    Just curious ...

No, my problem is I only see black and blues; I recon the silver versions are too fast - never seen one yet. Maybe nobody can see me either - hope the cars can:eek:

    Just curious ...

Since I bought my metallic silver 2008 fazer some 2 months+ ago, I haven't seen a single other one in my area. I have seen many black and blue versions, but not another silver one. I have also not seen any 2008 silvers on this forum. Do I have the only one, or are ther others out...

That 600 mile sevice can be hazardous to your bikes health!

Man, I didn't realise how this thread would take off! Thanks guys for your support. From the look of things, it will just be a distant memory soon and I will be a bit wiser next time. I think there's always an element of risk attached to this sort of thing, and after so many years without a...

That 600 mile sevice can be hazardous to your bikes health!

I don't see why I should pick up anything less than the pristine bike I dropped off. It was only 5 weeks old and perfect. Most businesses would have insurance cover for stuff like that. I agree, if I had chipped it myself, I would not have replaced the tank or resprayed, but I didn't - they...

That 600 mile sevice can be hazardous to your bikes health!

Bit of a result guys. M.D. came through and it sounds like they are going to give me a new tank:thumbup: Still early days, but it is looking promising. Either a tank off a new showroom bike, or if they do not have one, they will order one in. What a relief! Can't wait to get this whole...

FZ6 Riders Show us your baby!!

Sorry guys, no 'real' photo of my actual ride yet, but here's one hot off the press. Mine's completely standard and unmodded except for R&G sliders and DefCom-T alarm system. Not the 'fastest colour', but I think it's the 'business'. :D

That 600 mile sevice can be hazardous to your bikes health!

steveindenmark There's nothing I would like to do more than 'name and shame', however I would need to be absolutely sure of the legal consequences to me if I did such a thing. Unfortunately, I would need to seek legal advice before doing this and I'm not prepared to spend a dime on this...

That 600 mile sevice can be hazardous to your bikes health!

I checked-out my bike fully when I received it as I had an inkling that these guys were a bit sloppy. e.g. one thing I noticed immediately after I drove it from the showroom home was the placement of the overflow hoses from the tank. The users manual states that there are 3 hoses on the right...

That 600 mile sevice can be hazardous to your bikes health!

No, FooFazer, I didn't even think of reserving the right it at the time. I guess that everyone hopes the people they are dealing with have integrity and follow the same set of standards that they would apply to a similar situation. Let this be a wakeup call to those that are offered a good...

That 600 mile sevice can be hazardous to your bikes health!

I have written a letter last week to the Managing Director about this. The company has so far made me feel like I am making too much fuss over nothing. I'm glad I'm not the only person who found this whole episode unacceptable. I have spent so much time on the phone now trying to sort this...
