Replaced my timing chain at 131,000km

This is what the 3rd chain guide looks like. Its a tiny piece that snaps into place on the underside of the cam cover. Attached also the yamaha service manual which calls for all 3 chain guides to be replaced. Part number is 5BE-12241-01-00...

Hi fazil, sorry to reply 4 months late. I don't get email alerts on profile posts. Here is the 3rd timing chain guide I was talking about. It attaches to the underside of the cam cover. Open the link below and check (no. 15) Yamaha part number is 5BE-12241-01-00...

Replaced my timing chain at 131,000km

Besides the two long guides that slot through the cylinder head, there's also a tiny one that snaps onto the bottom of the valve cover. Service manual calls for all 3 to be replaced together. Yep I changed the tensioner too. Old one was very slightly rougher than the brand new one in operation...

    Fz6 error 34

Been having this intermittent error pop up again. Bike would suddenly start running on 2 cylinders, sound very lumpy and have no power. Except now my error code has gone from code 33 to code 34! I'll take everything apart over the weekend and maybe swap in my other new ignition coil. If that...

Replaced my timing chain at 131,000km

Put everything else back in, fresh coolant, and it started right up! Words can't describe that satisfaction I felt when the engine burst into life after cranking for a couple seconds. All done, took me three late nights but the feeling of accomplishment is indescribable. The bike was...

Replaced my timing chain at 131,000km

Hey guys, just wanted to share about the timing chain job I performed on my 2009 FZ6S about a year ago. Lots of helpful information on this forum and still very active so I thought I'd contribute with my experience. My bike had 131,000km at the time. With that mileage I suspected the timing...

    Fz6 error 34

My fc has been the same around 17-18km/l on local riding. Probably 70% highway and 30% stop/go traffic. However during touring where it was 100% highway I've managed up to 20km/l. I've heard from another local fz6 owner that cleaning out his fuel tank filter made noticeable improvement to his...

    Fz6 error 34

I ordered and just received the ECU, took about 2 months to come. However my bike has been running fine recently, even rode up to Kluang with no issues. I'm gonna hold off on the ECU replacement until the problem comes up again

    Fz6 error 34

Great information thank you. Yes my bike has an immobiliser, gonna tackle that next and hopefully it solves the issue for good.

    Fz6 error 34

Interesting, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Does ECU replacement simply involve unplugging the faulty ECU, swapping in a new ECU, and reprogramming the red and black keys? The shop I went to told me the ignition barrel and all keys need to be changed, though I doubt so since the service...

    Fz6 error 34

Awesome, finally some conclusive insight to the actual cause of this problem. Kudos to you for digging into it so deep! May I ask what the burnt component is and what it controls? Also, what do you think caused it to damage in this way? I'm completely clueless when it comes to this level of...

Need Help Which way do the ignition coils plug in?

On another note, while replacing the coil I tested the spark plug cap resistance. Cyl 1 spark plug cap: 8.74k ohms Cyl 4 spark plug cap: 9.37k ohms Since the manual only gives one value (10k ohms) as 'in-spec', I wonder if my readings were sufficiently off to warrant replacement?

Need Help Which way do the ignition coils plug in?

Hi trepetti, thanks for the reply. Good to know polarity doesn't matter. I've already replaced the coil with a new one I had, bike has been running well so far but on a recent ride I felt one intermittent loss of power again. Check on diagnostic mode memory and it was code 33 again! Will have...

    Fz6 error 34

I see, I bought the coil from Auto Machinery and swapped it over myself in my MSCP :) I also found the other coil connected backwards by a previous mechanic. I might head over to Tuck Life soon, haven't been there for a while. Thanks for your quick reply! Good to know I'm not the only one...

    Fz6 error 34

Hi hun7ter, fellow fz6 rider from Singapore here. Been having the same intermittent error, though mine is code 33 for cyl 1/4 ignition coil. I replaced that coil but the same error appeared again 2 weeks later.:mad: My bike has 136,000km and can never get more than 18km/l Did you manage...

Need Help Which way do the ignition coils plug in?

Hi all, my first post here after being a long time lurker. I've been chasing down an intermittent code 33 on the bike. The ignition coil spade terminals are marked with '+' and '-', is it correct to assume that the red wire goes on the '+' and orange wire goes on the '-'? Also found the cyl 2/3...
