Haha yep it sure does! Thanks!
The BMW is my dad's 1997 R850R "Olympic Edition". Its actually pretty nice but a good bit heavier than the FZ6 so I'm not completely comfortable with it yet.
Today I spent a few hours cleaning up the bike some more since I'm on Spring Break. I removed the rear fender to get rid of all the built up dirt from that area. I also polished up the bike using Meguiar's light polish on a drill attachment. Finally I sealed the paint using Collinite 845...
Okay cool thanks! I'll be changing the oil around once a year anyway even though I will probably put no more than 3,000 miles on the bike in that time. For now I'll try the chain cleaning and adjustment.
As far as polishing the header goes, I just used some old metal polish my dad had laying around the garage, and a foam attachment for a Velcro adapter on an electric drill. I first used a scotch pad to scuff up the crud on the exhaust and then polished it out with small amounts of polish on the...
Thanks! I will definitely check the clutch cable slack before I ride it next. I understand that these are supposed to have clunky gear boxes to begin with but compared to my brother's (his just slides into each gear smoothly) mine is definitely louder. As far as rev-matching goes, I haven't...
Haven't done much to the bike lately just been riding it. Here are some pics my brother took of it:
I also recently noticed some clunkier than usual shifting compared to my brother's FZ6. Since the current oil supposedly oil had 400 miles on (from receipts from previous owner) I didn't...
Yep! I ride up a bit further north and really enjoy the 40-50s as well. I actually enjoy riding in the Summer, but in the early mornings or later evening/night is the best.
On the weekends when I get home from school I've been working on the bike and cleaning it up some more. A couple weekends ago I flushed the coolant, front and rear brake fluid, cleaned under the throttle tube/lubed the throttle cable.
I found a decent amount of rust and dirt under the...
So first off after purchase was some general cleaning. As you could probably tell from the pictures on the first post, the previous owner wasn't the best at keeping it very clean.
I cleaned the entire bike and chain thoroughly. Then lubed the chain up so its good to go for a while:
The rear...
Thanks! So I have heard haha. I will definitely be taking it easy for the next few months as I get used to it and ride it around here. I haven't really taken it above 8k rpms yet, but it has no problem outrunning anything on the road even without going above 8k :)
Thanks! So far I've just been cleaning it up and casually riding it around with my dad and brother. I haven't really taken it past 8k rpm yet, still just getting used to the bike. I actually enjoy the stock exhaust sound, but I haven't heard an aftermarket exhaust in person yet!
