May My Fz6 Rest In Peace

I'm so close to just chucking this engine out the back of a moving truck BUT! I will continue on. I'm way too curious/hard headed to call it quits now and I also value the information that will be attained through this and possibly be of use to someone else on this forum in the future...

May My Fz6 Rest In Peace

Little update: Just ran the bike with the cleaning mixture for a little over an hour. I was expecting smoke but didn't experience any. Just the occasional drop/fluctuation in rpm. I'll empty the tank in a bit and run some fresh fuel through it.

Hope my absence didn't worry you. Didn't end up doing it on Monday. Way too warm to be outside. Hoping for better weather next Monday, my only real day off.

I read the thread you linked to on the Yamaha outboard forum and I just want to clarify something. Spinning the engine by hand made sense but this set of instructions about a running engine confuses me. After mixing the 16oz/3qt solution, am I supposed to keep this is in a different...

ECU was fine. Don't recall which coil failed. I can't find the original document from my initial visit but I'm still looking. Also, my YIEC arrived. Directions on the back state one should refer to the Yamaha service instructions to Inject the correct amount of liquid into each cylinder, based...

I bypassed my kill switch years ago. The ecu was replaced as well as the coils with a pair of used ones from ebay. This was all done during my first visit to the mechanic, where he guessed for 7 months replacing every possible electrical component.

I went ahead and purchased the Yamaha stuff from Amazon couple days ago. Should arrive sometime this week. Any tips on how to use that stuff?

May My Fz6 Rest In Peace

My last ride was a 35 mile ride with the throttle pinned and the bike barely holding 65mph at max.

I did look into that product. Sounds like Seafoam on steroids. I'd definitely spend the $50 just out of curiosity. And I had done the valves a few thousand miles ago but now It's got me worried that I possibly read them wrong. Although I triple check all my numbers before purchasing the shims.

I can search for his notes later tonight. Are you saying there may be slight chance I'd make it to 100k?

May My Fz6 Rest In Peace

I did find a red 06 up at a dealer in Santa Cruz with 3700 miles and I was considering it, but I think I'm ready to move on to something else. If mine was still in working order, I'd ride it into the ground. :D But my goal was to eventually purchase something I wouldn't mind dumping regularly...

May My Fz6 Rest In Peace

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd drop in and extend a warm thank you and perhaps goodbye to all you wonderful people who provided me with invaluable resources to maintain my motorcycle. I tried to limp my way over the 100k mile mark, but at last, I must throw in the towel 12k miles shy of my goal...

    2014 mileage contest

Yeah, I kept looking for one since Dec. Perhaps I should've started one :) Started 42,470 Ending 66,500 Total 24,030 Had to bypass my kill switch due to spontaneous and abrupt stops while riding and adjust my valves at 50k, but otherwise, another great year of riding.

Has your bike ever hit the ground?

I'll never forget the Alamo because that's the first time it tipped over. Went to load it up on the kickstand and my muddy boot slipped off the stand and down it went. I've dropped it another 2 times all on the same right side frame slider.

Exploring my new backyard; The Sierra Mountain Range

These Harleys? They're harmless. Although I find they prefer it if your jacket was covered in stickers. That's why I'll probably never fit in.

Exploring my new backyard; The Sierra Mountain Range

I'm heading out to Street Vibrations in September the long way round. Possibly camp up in the mountains and turn it into a two day trip. Any one else planning on going out this year?

Help! Riding gear for vertically challenged....

Hello fellow vertically challenged friend! I myself have a 29" waist 28" inseam and the only company I have found that fit the bill is Dainese. Expensive but it's worth it. I own a textile jacket and two textile pants but I'm sure their leather will fit as well as these do.
