    My rear light wobbles

Interesting idea, will I be riding round in a circle now looking over my shoulder trying to see it wobble I wonder? Probably not, I had over an hour to look at it while sat waiting for the recovery van to arrive after it broke down on the A1M the other day. No time to find out what it was...

    My rear light wobbles

It's been answered, thanks to all for your replies, but it does seem strange, my initial worry was that the shock to the bulb filament caused by the lamp moving up and down is Yamaha's answer to the problem which could be caused - oh no, I'm in a loop here. It's like a dentist telling you to...

    My rear light wobbles

I wouldn't dream of solid mounting it, I had considered some sort of foam but with all the heat from the exhaust I didn't think it would last long. But it does look like it was meant to be fixed to something using those two clips on the bottom of the light unit.

    My rear light wobbles

And I fixed that.............but the strangest thing is the wiring loom has an H4 to H7 adapter on the left, it can't just have been new legislation arriving just before FZ6 production started as the left headlight moulding will only take the emaller H7 bulb.

    My rear light wobbles

On Friday while putting my bike to bed for the day (I've been on nighshift) I caught the rear light with the back of my hand and noticed it had a bit of a wobble to it, as if the screws had come out. When I had a look at it with the seat off I found it was screwed in on it's rubber mounts ok...

    That Gap!

Thanks FinalImpact, and yes, that's the very gap I am bridging. The second photo seems to show the coils aren't covered by the battery cover. Which makes me wonder, how are the HT leads fixed into the coils? Your thread on the plug caps and this thread made me wonder if the coil to HT...

    That Gap!

Yes, good old di-electric grease. I came across this little wonder product a few years back on a car forum. Apart from it's waterproof qualities, it is also has electrical insulating properties, it's not there to conduct electricity, so sounds as if it would be counter-productive when used on...

    That Gap!

I didn't find or think it was a problem when riding, it's when the bike is stood outside in a downpour. And if you think Yamaha tested extensively, why are there so many problems with water getting into the ECU on the FZ6? Or that plastic moulding under the seat on the left of the bike which...

    That Gap!

The plate is flat so doesn't cover the snorkel or obstruct it, wish I had photo'd it when making it but just wanted to get it done before the rain started again!

Puncture Sealant vs. Plugs & Patches

I've been using this stuff, you put it in the tyre before you get a puncture and it forms a permanent seal, there are plenty of videos of people riding over nails to prove it. Since I've started using it I've not been unfortunate enough to get a puncture, so I've not seen for myself if it really...

    That Gap!

I don't know about you but that gap between the fuel tank and the headstock bugs me. Or is there a bit missing on my bike. Quite apart from being an eyesore, it's right above the battery and some electrical connections, and rain can get straight in there. So I took a piece of cardboard and...

    Gear indicator plug 'n' play

There's probably not much incentive for a company to develop one, how many FZ6 ABS were sold before production ended? My gear indicator is sat in it's box in the shed unused, I don't fancy trying to cut any wires to the ecu, though I'd be more inclined to splice into a wire further down the...

    09 S2 wouldn't start..........

Got out of work today and the bike wouldn't start, the immobilizer light was blinking away, had to get recovery out and 4 hours after getting out of work I was home, a mere 35 miles............. The wife had my tea ready for me, so I had that and a quick think, then went out with the red...

    Tank Cover? Worth the price?

Re: Tank Cover? Worth the price? - thread resurrection Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm trying to get a tank cover for my S2 faired bike. Baglux or Bagster seem to list a different cover for the faired and the naked bikes, but I can't think why. And the reason I'm bothered? My bike is...

    Gear indicator plug 'n' play

After a few days searching I've still not found the mythical 'triangular plug' for the speed sensor, contacting the supplier wasn't a big help either. I've printed off a diagram from the service manual to see if I can find it, but on a simple wiring loom like the FZ has (compared to a...

    Gear indicator plug 'n' play

I've also bought a plug and play unit for my FZ6 S2 ABS, and I'm having trouble finding the connection mentioned in the instructions. And if I do find it, I then need to find another wire for something on the geartronic to splice into, so on the whole, it's not exactly plug and play.

    De-cat

Has anyone tried knocking the inside out of their standard cat pipe? Loads on ebay for less than half the cost of a de-cat pipe (saw one today for less than £30 with postage), and I did hear of people on doing this to some cars, then it looks standard and if the emissions are ok it should still...

    Cheap Brake/clutch levers

I bought some cheap shorties off ebay for my Vstrom, the brake lever was fine, but the clutch lever lacked the tang to open/close the clutch safety switch, it could have been sorted if I wanted, but I wanted an FZ6 more than I wanted to do that. They weren't bad quality, and when I complained to...
