After wrestling with the new cable for about half an hour, I took the battery and air box out in a few minutes and had the cable through in a few more. Great how-to, but I definitely suggest removing the battery box and air box to make the job easy.
Re: What makes your bike diff
I got tired of fumbling around in my pocket for my ID card when I go through the gate on post. This is about as unique as it gets on my bike.
I've proven the 1st gear top speed of 60+ accurate. The rest, well we don't have speed limits high enough or I don't have a pair big enough.
The bottom line is that it has more than enough pickup to get you away from the most dedicated idiot (at least in the Northern VA/DC area) without even...
I wear Army-issued steel toe suede boots sometimes and the only problem I have with them is the one I have with all suede boots: Big freakin black mark from the shifter on my left boot!
I used a pair of these but never had peripheral protection. Then the Army gave me all kinds of ballistic sunglasses with prescription inserts but I still had to take them off completely and have my normal glasses for being indoors. What you've got would seem to be the best of both worlds. As for...
Did you forget your pants underneath them at that?:spank:
I had a non-creepy version of that happen to me. The guy stared at my bike long enough to figure out what it was and complimented me on it. Perhaps the KLR guy's gears didn't turn quite quickly enough to get to that point.
I've found better fuel economy from shifting around 4-5k but the power is pretty low down there. Thus far it's been sufficient for normal traffic but I usually need to rev higher to get away from cagers when they aren't playing nice. I also miss the sound of the engine at 10k.
I bought one of these ramp/bed extenders on the outside chance that it wasn't a gimmick and the thing is actually quite nice. It takes two people to get my FZ6 into my 2004 Dakota 2WD on level ground. I'm sure someone with a bigger pair could do it solo. It comes with all the straps to secure it...
I saw that beast the other day on the Triumph website and I'm convinced that Triumph is trying to take H-D's big twins head on. Granted, they're doing it their way, but that's what I like about Triumph. I hope this bike turns out to be as awesome as it looks.
I think someone has posted pics of their highway pegs somewhere else in the forum. I think it was amidst another conversation about sliders and guards. I wish I could remember exactly, but that was too many beers ago.
Re: whats your favorite Rock song?
Here's one I can guarantee no one else has posted. Yes, it is rock.

I have the black Power Trip Army jacket shown here:
Power Trip US Army Branded Gear Flak Textile Jacket
Though the sleeves zip off, I don't think I'd ever take 'em off. I've put a bike down at low speed and caught myself on my elbow wearing just a long sleeved shirt. I had a knot the size...
I do it a lot, especially when I'm keeping the RPM low or, like others have said, getting to about 60 on the highway. I definitely don't wish I had any more gears, I just hear the engine hit that range where I usually shift and to it automatically.
The "Commonwealth" considers it reckless driving, in fact. Even sitting side by side with another bike in the same lane is the same as lane splitting according their laws.
I couldn't agree more about the knuckleheads around here. Some woman decided she would be slow in the fast lane on 95...
