I definitely like the wind protection and feel that is a very worthwhile improvement, although I'm not sure how much I think it is worth. The suspension descriptions at the Yamaha web site are identical, they are both inverted forks with adjustable preload and rebound damping, although that...
I was hoping that Yamaha would produce something like the FJ-09 based on the FZ-09, i.e. larger tank, fairing, luggage capability. But the $2300 price premium for the FJ-09 over the FZ-09 seems a bit steep. Are there other improvements between the two models I am missing which would justify...
Is the shift lever intact? Actually it could be bent up a bit and still be useful, I'm looking for one to cut and weld to lower the shifter. PM if there is a possibility.
Way above I mentioned "stop and frisk" in a post. That was kind of tongue in cheek, but the more I read and the more I think about it, the more this looks like “stop and frisk” for motorcycles. I don’t follow NYC too closely, but I seem to recall the new mayor ending “stop and frisk” with...
From your drawing, and since you were told that it was a "motorcycle check point" after you were stopped, it looks like the hiding cop set a trap for the next unsuspecting motorcyclist to come along, who happened to be you. I guess "stop and frisk" is still OK in New York as long as you are...
I got a Shad top case, then later added Givi side cases, so yes, you can install separately. The Shad top case rack and Givi side case racks do not interfere with each other at all. I don't know what happens if you go with one brand, the top and side case racks may be more dependent on each...
And I'm sure they said, "you're right sir, that was careless of us. Thank you for pointing out our error, we'll be more considerate and careful in the future", right? Just kidding, more likely you got a bunch of f-yous and middle fingers. Lucky they didn't decide to do anything physical. I...
Okay, it's a bright red fruit. I guess it's electric as in bright and vibrant. When I see electric "curr_nt", I just think it should be "current." Of course that' s not red.
Same question I had. I have had a rattle-can of dupli-color "electric currant red" (it's really "currant" not "current", I don't know why) around for a while (someone around here said it was a good match) for the purpose of painting my radiator guards.
Yeah, that kinda sucks. Seems to be more and more common these days to omit the centerstand. With the under-muffler, I wonder if a centerstand is even possible. The FZ-09 seems to have a sight glass for the oil level. How the heck do you check that without a centerstand?
Oh well, I guess...
Wow, I don't stop by for a while and when I do, I see this!
I used to think my FZ6 was all I'd ever need, but this FZ-09 might make me change my mind. But it will depend on a few things:
1. a half-faired version will have to be available.
2. fitment racks for side cases and top case will...
That is nice looking work.
Are those Gen Mar risers?
Also, it looks like you have an '07 or later. Were you required to eliminate the stock handlebar clamp thingy (the one piece thing with four holes for the handlebar clamp bolts and the tuning fork logo, part no 14 here) to fit the risers...
Agreed, but unfortunately the odometer will be about minus 6%. Not a big deal, but if you calculate your mpg, remember to increase the miles by about 6% to get a more accurate figure, otherwise you won't as easily discern any increase in mpg due to the larger sprocket.
Sorry, since I was interested in going up one tooth, I did not look for a 15 tooth factory oem option. If I get a chance, I may try to do so just for fun.
UPDATE - I rooted around at the Vortex site and could not find a corresponsing OEM 15 tooth sprocket. All the bikes that come stock with...
If you would like a genuine Yamaha-made sprocket with the rubber cushioning, part no. 1AE-17460-11-00 will fit. I ordered one from Stadium Yamaha, cost $19.75 (plus shipping.)
Above sprocket was the stock sprocket on the 1999 YZFR7. If you check an aftermarket sprocket manufacturer like...
Yes, December 11, 2117, then again only eight years later on December 8, 2125, then there is a 121-1/2 year gap to the first of another pair of transits separated by eight years in June 2247 and June 2255. This pattern (8 years, 105.5 years, 8 years, 121.5 years) will repeat until the second of...
I was all set for 3 hours of fun and excitement watching the first half of the transit, but, alas, clouds rolled in just before first contact. Happily, the western sky cleared enough just before sunset that I was able to observe for about 20 minutes. I know I could have watched on NASA TV, or...
