    highway pegs

I agree with the position of being rearward, not forward. On long hauls I want to lay forward not lean back. BTW I have FZ1 bars on. I was just in the garage last night trying to figure out how to lower the passenger pegs about 8 inches. Maybe a C shaped bar clamped to the stock passenger pegs.

Armor All, Plexus, or Pledge for the Plastics and Occasional Polishing?

Guitars are wood, FZ6 parts are plastic. Completely different examples. Pledge works great on plastic. Cleans, shines, and is a dust deterrant.

Have you ever run out of fuel on the FZ6?

27 miles until it died. I was in a hurry and didnt pay attention to the gauge. I normally get 45 mpg so reserve on my bike would be closer to .6 gallons. Where does the the .96 gallons come from? The owners manuel?

    Airbox mod

Over the years I have modded several airboxes on various bikes. The formula is the same for every bike- three things are needed to make a difference. More air in, more fuel to burn, more exhaust out. Doing one has little affect and even sometimes has a negative affect. Doing all three makes...

    Thumbs up for stoplights!!!!

If you ride a MC in the winter buy the right gear. A heated inner jacket and good gloves is a no brainer for me. Its funny to watch my buddies freeze their arse off when my heated gear is on low.

    Bridgestone BT-023

I rode the first 150 miles in the twisties with BTO 23 front and back yeaterday. The bike seemed to drop into the turn slightly better than the stock BTO 20 they relpaced. I pushed them as hard as my ability could up the grade and down the grade. Sometimes going WFO thru two gears then...

Is the rear tire peeling out?

Yes, same handle. Great site, it should make other geographic areas jealous.

Is the rear tire peeling out?

San Jose near 17. Perfect access to 9, 35, 17, 1. Out to 25 is good because my Monterey Peninsula buddies meet in Hollister and we hit those backcountry roads all the way out to Hwy 5 and back.

COLD RIDING! It's that time of year again...How do you stay warm?

Last Xmas Rocky Mtn had Tourmaster heated jacket liners on sale for around $130. Which was complete with all controls. Not sure if that product is still available but there are many other brands and options. A heated liner is like a insulated wind breaker where you put a shell or regular...

COLD RIDING! It's that time of year again...How do you stay warm?

I found that in 40 deg weather, the heated jacket liner was enough to keep my entire body warm. A cold body core will cut warm blood to the outer extremities first. With a warm core, the hands and feet have circulation and stay warm. In colder than 40deg you prob. Need everything heated...

    What tools to carry?

Think of it this way. In the field, you should be able to: - transfer gasoline from bike to bike - fix a flat tire - loosen and tighten screws, nuts, bolts - plug leaks - fix and diagnose electrical wires - fix with tape, zip tys, or wire Anyone can carry 20lbs of tools. To have all the...

Is the rear tire peeling out?

Pictures are great! What Ive learned from this thread is the rear tire does not peel out, it scuffs in any action, it wears faster than the front, for most riders two rears to one front, with exceptions. Thanks.

Is the rear tire peeling out?

I brake with front very hard and the rear mostly to adjust lines. I also am on the gas hard in some sections of road. Not crazy but I dont commute on my bike, its for thrills. My back tire is toast when the front looks like its too new to change.

Is the rear tire peeling out?

Taken from an article:The rear will indeed see that the center wears out first and faster than the front. Each time you downshift to engine brake, upshift and release the clutch, roll on the throttle or roll off the throttle, you will scuff the rear tire at the contact patch. Along with that...

    FZ1 Handle bar install

I can get the bars to clear but they definately are close enough to rub. Remember that the tank floats from side to side. It could be that the control cluster is different between years or the bars are slightly different. If not and everything is the same the bars are tilted too forward when...
