Dance music that gets you groovin!

Haven't been on for ages, & still an ageing rocker at heart. But this is one of those guilty pleasures (it would still take half a dozen slammers before I considered 'groovin' to it though) YouTube - Boogie wonderland - Earth Wind and Fire

    2009 Forum Meet

I'm in. Provided the dates are ok. I'm 400 yds from the 'Midland Oak' in Leamington, which was for centuries regarded as the Centre of England. So, I'm not bothered, north, south whatever. One thought, could we try & do it on a dry day this time :D

    Advanced Riding (IAM RoSPA) questions

When there was any doubt about a procedure. my observer would always say 'This is advanced riding, there is no right & wrong, as long as you can justify your actions to the examiner' That said I trained with a IAM group in Worcestershire & was tested in Birmingham, here they like the Hendon...

    Blowing my own trumpet

Thanks to you all for the good wishes. What is it? The IAM is the 'Institute of Advanced Motorcylists' (& motorists). Principally they promote safe riding & a positive image of bikers. What next? I think I'll start the training to become an observer, teaching others how to ride to...

    Pocket Knives

My old Dad lived in the States for a while. He bought me an 'Old Timer' back, I used & abused it for a long time until I lost it. A great tool. A quick look on google threw up the following link Single Blade Pocket Knives: Schrade Mighty Mite Single Blade Clip Point Pocket Knife [Model...

Where do you buy good oil?

We don't seem to have the choice over here that you get in the US. But surely, any decent bike shop should have a range of oil.

    Do you Lane Split

There is no doubt that that filtering is legal in the UK: Extracts from Highway Code Rules for motorcyclists Rule 88 Manoeuvring. You should be aware of what is behind and to the sides before manoeuvring. Look behind you; use mirrors if they are fitted. When in traffic queues look out for...

Whats the best way to lower an FZ6?

Remember if you go the lowering shock route, you also need to drop the forks in the yoke (Triple? US). This maintains the geometry of the bike, but beware it does cause the bike to 'Turn in' much quicker. And, you will have to shorten the side stand, otherwise it will fall over when you park up.

    50mph speed limit - consultation

Warwickshire has already imposed 50mph on most major roads. It is lunacy! A clear indication that the people who are making the decisions do not understand road safety. Some of the best biking roads in the district are now ridiculously limited. And I fear, worse is yet to come.

I'm going to the IoM TT!!!!!!

Was talking to an old TT regular recently. He said IOM magistrates are tolerant of a lot of ****, cos the TT brings in so many tourists dollars. But whatever else you do don't have a single vehicle accident. Because the only reason for it was that you were TFF (Too F'in Fast). And, they will...

    First main service & warranty

Always had mine serviced at a Yamaha main agent - J&S in Birmingham. 6000 mile sevice is about £100 / £110. About due a major service which will be about £250, but that includes doing the valve timing etc. £250 for an interim service sounds bloody dear to me!

    Lowering my FZ6

Hi Pink, I lowered mine using a shock from the Fi International people. Got mine for 80 quid off e-bay rather than the £499 list. It is a bit of a faff, as someone already mentioned you need to drop the forks through the top yoke to keep the geometry right*. More importantly you need to get...

    Opinions and Thoughts Requested

Last set of tyres I bought (BT020's) were from a very small Bridgestone approved dealer, a one man band in fact. He went to great lengths explain that 'modern' motorcyle tyres had to be scrubbed in for about 100 miles. Not because of releasing agents but due to the nature of the moulds (?)...
