Throttle Position Sensor Issues (Are you Experiencing Poor Idle/Mileage, or Stalls?)

I wouldn't expect the TPS to make the engine run so bad above 4K, (running violently).. Back to basic's, how do the spark plugs look? Any arcing going up the porcelain? Have you replaced spark plugs? What's the compression on each cylinder? A Leak Down Test certainly wouldn't hurt. Sounds...

Throttle Position Sensor Issues (Are you Experiencing Poor Idle/Mileage, or Stalls?)

TPS on my bike only goes up to 90 in diag menu. But smoothly so, without any dead spots or drops. More generally, I'm trying to nail down reason for violent vibrations after ~4K RPM. Just noticed the TPS thing in the process.

    Throttle completely stuck

I wasn’t suggesting unplugging the TPS, I was suggesting removing the TPS from the assembly. It is possible that the TPS is damaged and is restricting movement of the shaft. Remove the throttle cable from the throttle wheel OR the TPS. Either step will reveal the next step.

Throttle Position Sensor Issues (Are you Experiencing Poor Idle/Mileage, or Stalls?)

I've 2011 FZ6R (XJ6 Diversion) and TPS goes from 16 to 90 in diag menu. Is this normal? It's smooth without any faults between min and max. Just worried that MAX is too low. The bike does suffer from vibration and seemingly loss of top power.

    Throttle completely stuck

I removed both the TPS and the throttle cable from the throttle wheel, the shaft is still difficult to turn by hand - and the return closure is slow as molasses

Throttle Position Sensor Issues (Are you Experiencing Poor Idle/Mileage, or Stalls?)

You should be seeing 100 (or very close to) at WOT... .

Throttle Position Sensor Issues (Are you Experiencing Poor Idle/Mileage, or Stalls?)

2D1-85885-01-00 & 2D1-85885-00-00 TPS are used across many yamaha bikes, including some years of FZ6, R7, R1 etc. So it should still apply. But thanks for reference.

    Throttle completely stuck

...white lithium grease to it. I also sprayed some lube up into the return cable hose and the throttle is actually moving now. Unplugging the TPS made no difference. My TPS resistance seems fine at 4.5 K ohms max resistance and 0.67 K ohms when throttle fully closed for the sweep/outleg...

    Throttle completely stuck

I brake cleaned it some more and I have some liquid wrench being delivered today. I disconnected both the cables and the TPS and the cable plate does not move easily. I even used a pliers to manually turn it from the TPS side and it still takes more effort than it should. I’m hoping the liquid...

    Throttle completely stuck

...and throttle tube, I'd suspect corrosion where the throttle valve plate shaft go through the throttle bodies themselves - or most likely the TPS which sits on the same shaft at the opposite end of the throttle wheel. You can remove the TPS the next time you experience a frozen throttle to...

New tps sensor issues.. (is it because I got a cheap one)

I know there are a lot of forms on tps. I have read a lot of them. I know my tps should read around 15 at closed. The lowest it seemed I could get it set too was 115 at closed. I installed it the same way the stock one was, does anyone think if I turn it around jt will reach 15 instead of 115...

    Throttle completely stuck

Sorry I need to update my bio, I live in SLC now. It was 40 degrees over night last night, so not freezing, especially since it is stored in a garage. Thank you for the troubleshooting steps. It seems I have myself a weekend project!

    fz6 throttle body and tps

...squeeze it back into place. It took me probably 12 tries. A few weeks ago when I was using Liquid Wrench to loosen my throttle body shaft, I found a tiny spring underneath the throttle bodies and wondered what it was for - I finally found its place! Now my TPS diagnostic numbers are 17 and 102!

    fz6 throttle body and tps

Is it possible to adjust the main shaft on your own? I have this same problem. Cylinder 3 and 4 do not open all the way like cylinder 1 & 2. TPS diagnostic is 17 and 84 AT WOT. When trying to sync throttle bodies, 3&4 were way lower vacuum than 1 & 2. I’ve attached a photo - is there supposed...

Need Help FZ6 Idle Hunting + Jerking at slow speeds on 1st gear

...higher than 4 bars out of 6. Tried the diagnostics and when throttle position is off it's 16 and at max it's 101. Does this outrule the faulty TPS? I have read that even some 2006 models were recalled. My model is RJ07 (or FZR-RJ076/600). Has anyone had a similar problem on an FZ6, and...

Need Help Pressing the starter button cuts all electricity. Won’t start.

...building a new house. A question on the original issue: If it were a charging system failure, would an error message show? I remember when my TPS died I got an error 12. which was great to know exactly where the issue was although the dent in the wallet for fixing that little issue was a...
