This thread came just at the right time. I just put a new set of tires on and haven't had the time to break them in yet. I guess I'll take it easy for a while (not that I ride hard compared to most of you) I would feel really stupid if I put the bike down with out a break in period on the tires...

Thats normal, oil is cheap, change it often when it comes to a break in. You only get one chance to break in your new motor. Then switch to a better grade oil. The opinion on what to change to is as varied as there are oils out there. For me I'm a Amsoil man, some are Rotella others are Mobil...

I guess I would have to say tires. I had to ride on a gravel driveway the other day and it felt like I was riding on ice. I had 9k on my Pilot Powers and it took some effort to keep the bike up. Doc P.S I got new tires last Sat.

It is a can of worms. For what it's worth I have tried the Shell and other oils, but for me I always go home to mama, Amsoil. It shifts better and runs cooler. My .02 worth. Doc

I have a end cap oil filter wrench which started to slip on about the third time I used it. So I just drilled a small hole in it. I then used a self drilling screw to drill into the old filter and it just back right out. ( It's not recommended to drill a hole in the new filter to screw it on.)...

I've used Yamalube,Shell,Lucas and Amsoil. I have 27k on a 06 Fz6 that I got in 07. For me Amsoil is the best. It runs cooler and shifts smoother. Doc

I did a small air box mod by drilling a couple of holes in the box. I can't say that it did a whole lot but it sounds a bit better. I did this when I installed a K&N air filter. Doc

If it's the cap type filter wrench just drill a small hole in the cap, then use a self drilling screw and drive it into the filter then, just back it off. Doc
