New England Meet in VT - Aug 15th, 2009!!!

Everything in moderation ... my typical day rides would be 250-300 miles with about 4-5 stops including lunch, fueling, etc. That said, I'm usually with a smaller group so I get that's maybe (probably?) not often enough for a bigger group so whatever works for everyone works for me.

how has a givi top case changed your riding experience

IMO they're a clear case (no pun intended) of function over form. I (still) don't like the way mine looks although I am used to it now but the ability to walk out of the house or a store with a bag and pop it in the case and go more than overcomes the aestethics. I wouldn't have another bike...

New England Meet in VT - Aug 15th, 2009!!!

The attached is a shorter version - starts out the same but heads back south more directly. We could also see what kind of time we make on the first stretch and then pick long or short for the balance. Same deal - attached as a .doc, save and change the extension to .gdb

New England Meet in VT - Aug 15th, 2009!!!

I'm not super familiar with the area but I did get married in VT and had the reception in Brandon. They have a number of restaurants and at least one that would likely be large enough to just show up when we get there and be seated. Assuming we go clockwise on the loop it looks to be a little...

New England Meet in VT - Aug 15th, 2009!!!

Attached is what I think is the map shown translated into Garmin gps (attached as .doc, save file and change extension back to .gdb). The Kitzhof Inn is on the route so I vote we start and end there since it looks like that's where most of us will be staying at this point. I'm fine with ~300...

New England Meet in VT - Aug 15th, 2009!!!

I got my reservation confirmation today - same rate and everything but they called after lunch so that must mean that Eric heard today too - if not I'd call them. He did say they have two groups planning to be there that weekend.

Here's another lodging option that's bike friendly: Kitzhof Inn Cars and Bike Group Packages Looks like they have enough availability to cover our group based on today's info.

Just got my PC back and going this afternoon. Here's some routes that were intended to get me from MA to Lake Placid but they cover a few options that head through southern VT which would be pretty easy to turn into a loop by connecting some portions. I'll try to chart a couple of more specific...

Is the cost of ownership really as high as I think

Agree with the others - reduced commuting cost is not a good reason to buy a proper motorcycle escpecially if you can't afford to buy it outright. Since you'll likely still have a cage a lot of the costs (eg insurance) are simple adders to what you're already paying to have the car and you only...

Sounds sweet to me if your friends are willing to rent to a bunch of (goodnatured?) strangers. I know a Tracy Rd in NY - are we talking same road, different name here or is there another fantastic road in NY I'm missing out on? Hitting Tracy Rd from VT conveniently makes RT17 in VT easy to...
