I'm still interested in a Michigan group ride. The Traverse City area has some awesome twisty roads, especially the Leelanau peninsula, towards Empire and Frankfort.

I'll always wear a helmet when riding my motorcycle. I don't care if my state repeals the helmet law, I will continue wearing mine. If not for crash protection, having a visor is of great importance in deflecting flying debris and keeping one's eyes from watering.

6,000 miles on a 2008 is not too many miles. For example, my 2008 has 9,000 miles on it, and I slacked off riding last year due to a severed tendon in my right hand, and the birth of my daughter.

You should be able to do much better than $4,200 for an '06 with 11,000 miles. Last time I checked, used 2008 FZ6's were blue booking for around that price. Since that bike was probably a trade-in, I'd guess the dealer paid no more than $2,500-2,700 for it. I'd search around for better...

There is a reason why starter bikes are in the 250 cc class. While an FZ6 isn't necessarily a sport bike, it's engine is derived from one (older generation R6). Some folks have been able to start out on a 600 cc class bike and learn their skills before getting themselves hurt or killed...

Have you washed your bike recently? Pretty sure that weep hole connects to the area where your sparkplug is inserted. It's purpose is to drain away water that gets in there. Any chance the liquid you noticed was just water?

We're both in Michigan, and he's making the drive to go check the bike out tomorrow. He's thinking about offering $2,500.

The version he's looking at is the true ZR-7S. His plan is to buy the bike and park it until he completes a formal riding course. Its winter here anyway, so parking a bike is not a huge burden.
