What is the exact spec of the tyre? It should be 180/55 R17 W (73) Take the bike back and get them to put the proper size tyre on "free-of-charge". They have sold you "defective goods" and bike does not conform to the manufactures spec. ;) Depends on the profile part of the tyre spec...

If you are riding for a lot of the time 2 up then a dual compound "sport touring" tyre would be a good choice . . . (there are a lot to choose from - see the attached) D252's were the OEM tyre on my fazer and at 4000 miles they were really squared off. Turning into a corner was strange...
