If you're in good enough shape to be riding a bicycle in the mountains of CO, then you should easily be able to do this on the FZ. I run marathons, so I know that having the endurance, the knowledge to manage my hydration, and ability to cope with heat really helps me stay in the saddle. Only...

Same for me. When the shifter is preloaded, a very slight pull on the clutch lever and its in the next gear. My BMW is the same way. Take offs from a stop on my FZ are the smoothest I've ever experienced on any bike I've ever owned.

Bryan, I'm on the road right now, in Tucson (on the BMW), and will post a starting odo photo of the FZ6 when I return, probably on Jan 6 or 7.
