I'm at 11,000 miles on the FZ6 and brake pads have hardly any wear. On my BMW, which weighed 100 lb more, but otherwise was ridden in similar manner, I got 60,000 miles out of the original front and rear pads.

Holy cow! :eek: glad to hear you're okay; as others have said, get the tire (tyre) and rim checked just to be sure. Getting rear-ended is one of my fears. A truck driver ran a red light today downtown and hit the Metro train...he was talking on his cell phone. No excuse!

Here's an alternative...a small group of us are meeting at Flying J in Brookshire, leaving at 7:30 AM to ride to Brady TX for lunch at Hard Eight BBQ. This is a ride-to-eat called by some of my riding friends at MTF (long-distance riding group).

That really stinks! I know that stretch of 128 all too well, having commuted it for 8 years from Boxford to Waltham. It gets a little tight with Highway 3 merging in. That piece is only $40 to replace and very easy to do. It's what I would do, rather try to fool around with painting...

I'm following this logic, mostly, but it's all relative. Don't assume that every other bike will be easier to ride by comparison to an FZ6. Each motorcycle brand/model has its own riding/handling quirks. Ask a Harley rider how his clutch hand feels after a long session of stop-and-go traffic...

My '07 came with Bridgestones. I just replaced the front at 10,700 miles, put a Michelin Pilot Road on. The rear picked up a nail at 3,000 miles and I replaced it with Michelin Pilot Road, which now has 7,000 miles and more than 1/2 of the tread still remaining.

That looks like the Yamaha Comfort Gel Seat. I hope not, though. I bought one and it's worse than the stock seat...very hard, doesn't conform because of the gel pad, even after 10,000 miles of use. You may be thinking of the description commentary for the FZ6R. The instrument cluster on...
