    Olive Oil

I'd think that the olive oil would be less damaging to O rings than anything with solvents in it. Pretty much anything that is sprayed out of a can has to have some sort of thinner in it, to allow it to spray. Whatever that is, has to evaporate, leaving the material you want to apply behind...

BMW 650 GS - only one exhaust working?

    You've had 5 BMWs, I've owned 1 Toyota for 12 years...... whatever suits you.:BLAA:

    Olive Oil

That of course makes me wonder if you could use Olive Oil to clean the chain.....:D

    fork springs

Most suspension shops will straighten bent fork tubes, if the bend is slight. If you can see a bend, either replace the fork leg, or get it straightened.

    fork springs

I stated it backwards, then.... that's indicating the spring will compress 0.85mm for each kilogram of force applied. 100 kg will compress the spring 85 mm. which equals 3.4 inches. Since the weight on the bike is split between the front suspension and the rear, the amount of weight you...

    fork springs

There's too many things to guess about in this post.... You would feel a difference in how the fork works, with appropriate springs in there. It won't move around so much, and be a lot more stable in it's action. Not knowing what average size guy means, it's tough to say whether the...

    Another cam chain issue

If you are as concerned as you state, why did you buy the bike? Take it to the dealer you bought it from, and get them to log your issue into Yamaha's data base. The reason to do this is to ensure your Warranty will apply, if there is an issue later. Randomly changing things until...

You think your good on your bike??? Pfffff ;)

If you are in the military, you should be able to bring your bike in without getting pounded with all the stuff the Japanese do.... just don't try and sell it while you are there.

    WTB: 07 FZ6 Fan /Blower Assy

I thought the blower for the '07 and later models was ridiculously priced.... so I checked on the price on the one used from '04 to '06.... it costs $400+ compared to the $200+ for the '07 and later. This strikes me as incredibly over priced for a 12V fan. It's a simple enough part, used on...

Haven't been around much since last Saturday (8/5) ..

Kudos, Eric.:cheer::rockon: Nothing increases your knowledge, like trying to teach others. You'll get to the point where you can explain every concept you teach to at least 3 ways..... and when you're REALLY good, you can do it 5. Never stop learning. I took the Team Oregon ARC...

Odometer resets when ignition is turned off?

The shifter linkage on your bike is dirty. You need to lubricate the linkage points. Get some white lithium grease, and shoot some into the pivot points on the entire linkage all the way into the transmission case. Can't help you with the odometer.. that might be a Euro spec problem....

    stebel horn relays

The relay you are using should have five connections possible. The three that should be used to connect the horn to the battery are: NC is 'normally closed' NO is 'normally open' C is 'common' Power from the battery should be connected (with inline fuse) to the 'common'...

    stebel horn relays

It sounds like you popped the fuse on the line going to the horn.... The purpose of the relay is to route the higher current draw for the louder horn on a path that does not go through the switch. Now, the switch controls the relay, which is a MUCH beefier remote contrlled switch. But, it...

    Headlight help

The OEM headlight assembly is one unit, which has both lamps in a common housing. Item one, in the schematic. 2006 Yamaha FZ6 - FZS6V Parts, 2006 Yamaha FZ6 - FZS6V OEM Parts - BikeBandit.com If you already have the projector kit, why nod modify your current housing?

    Dont do it

This is (I believe) at least in part caused by the too soft portion of the progressive OEM fork springs. They allow too much fork travel and you don't notice it when you ride on relatively smooth pavement.... when you start to push a lot harder on rough pavement, the weirdness reveals itself...

Just an Idea for Homemade Frame Sliders for extra protection

The advantage of the bars over a 'slider' is the 3 or more point attachment to the bike's frame. The crash bars can be tucked in quite close to the motor and still protect the vital parts of the bike. If you want to add sliders to the bars, you are in effect just protecting the bars.... not...

    Front suspension shot?

I'd suggest you try riding it, before you increase the sag. That part is easy enough to tweak, as you don't have to remove the fork legs from the bike. Just loosen the top clamps, unscrew the caps, fish out the spacer, and then a washer..... Now that you have it all assemblied, you need to...

Hissling noise when leaned in turns

I would have suspected something in the running gear, for a noise... maybe the chain running at an angle on the sprockets. It's possible the rear wheel is slightly mis-aligned on the swingarm as an example. If you hear the noise only when the bike is not vertical, there is also a slight...
