I'm 5'6" (I think my arms are proportional - who knows!) and have no problems with the FZ1 bars. I haven't tried the stock FZ6 bars though.

i don't use earplugs when i ride and while i do hear a lot of wind noise (sometimes sounds like a low whistle), it never has been really bothersome. maybe i've already done too much damage to my ears. :rolleyes:
