Keep in mind that all of my crash experience ( wich is quite extensive ) comes from racing dirtbikes for 10 years +1 high side on my FZ. Unfortunatly the only way to get good at crashing is to, well,... crash,.... ALOT. It is possible to train yourself to tuck and roll, i got pretty good at...

I did this mod as well and love it, easy cheap and a huge diffrence, i thought the width was a disadvantage at first, bu the more i rode the more i liked the position of my hands.

Re: Top Speed Every time we have this topic i get flamed for telling on myself but as for my new 06 only about 130mph my old 05 (RIP) topped out at 166mph, keep in mind thats indicated.

Yes bars bolt directly into the stock clamp no mods need to the bike itself. onlt down side i can see is that the FZ1 bars are about an inch wider, wich i guess isnt realy a down side because now that i have put some miles on the bike with the new bars i like the little extra leverage i get...

Total install time was about 45 min, had to drill a hole on the throttle side for the little set peg on the throttle of the FZ6. I wanted a little lower and forward riding position but not as far as clip ons......Bars go lock to lock with no clearance problems.

LOL no the insurance co. totaled my silver 05 i just bought this one about a week and a half a go its a 06 in the fastest color made (so ive heard anyway)

I went to the local yamaha dealer and ordered a set of FZ1 bars, well they came in today and now they are clamped to the FZ6 just had to drill one hole and the rest was a piece of cake, they give me the riding position i was looking for, and it only cost me 30 dollars.

Trust me it all comes down to rider, weather its your FZ vs. a R6s, or even the R6. My buddy has a 07 R6 Raven and thinks it is the baddest bike EVER that was until my silver 05 FZ6 ate his lunch in a straight line and the twisties. a decent rider can make up for the difference in hp. i promise

my last set were Dunlop Qualifiers loved them for the 50 miles i had them b4 my crash, and my new bike has Battle Axes and they are really sweet as well. My 05 had the stock dunlops on it at first and i really didnt like them at all compared to the two other sets i have run.

I rode a few SS bikes and just couldnt get comfortable, and there was not a big enough gain in power and handling to make me give up the comfort level of the FZ! besides the FZ is still the baddest looking bike around!

Yesterday I became the proud owner of a 2006 FZ6 in BLUE!!! it has 1300 miles on it and is in amazing showroom condition pics coming soon!!!

I was curious if the front fender off a 07 will bolt on an 06?

I guess i am what some people would call a sand bagger i really only ever raced cars i knew i was going to stomp! :D haha The fastest thing i think i raced was a supercharged Mustang. really no competition.
