Great thread. I love getting my FZ dirty. I've gone down some pretty gnarly roads and trails and crossed a few creeks (link below.) I don't expect it to be a true off-roader. It's just fun to be able to get to a good campsite or take the scenic route between twisty tarmac sections...

I use it EVERY time I turn off my bike, which is surely why it needs maintenance now. It's how I've been turning off motorcycles for 20 years... and I'm stubborn as hell... :D

I've only seen the whole assembly ($170-ish) for sale. Do you have a part number for the switch? (Or is it a semi-universal item.)

Ummm yeah... in that situation I would follow these procedures: Step 1: Crap pants Step 2: Repeat Back to the bike though. I will use an eraser and some di-lectric grease. I received what I wil call 100% confirmation that it's the kill switch this AM. I didn't cover the bike last night...

My 2006 (25K miles) has shut down on the road three times over the past week (twice today.) It acts as if I've flipped the kill switch. I've been able to start it each time while still rolling, though the last time I had to drop down to neutral and pull the clutch to get it to start again...

You'll get used to it after a few rides. What you can't get used to is NOT wearing them when you are accustomed to them. I sounds like a freight train is in your helmet.
