I"m pretty sure that you can just purchase the 07+ speedometer cable which takes care of the wiring problem. I remember researching this, as I would like to swap my 04 gauges for 07+ gauges, since the older style digital tachometer blows. :D

Re: Silver all the way! I think that I put them on last Spring. I've been riding to work about 4 days a week this summer, so it sits outside about 9.5 hours on those days. It's my understanding that the silver levers have no anodizing, and that's one of the reason that I chose that color.

That is a good price for an Ohlins. Where did you get the quote from? The rare times that they are available used, they usually go for about $550. I don't think that I've ever seen a new Ohlins with a remote reservoir for less than $700.

I have a 2004, and am also 6'3". I've tried the stock screen, the tall Yamaha shield, and I'm now running the Puig double bubble. None of them remove the bad, loud turbulence. The tall Yamaha shield had some weird effects at high speeds ( > 85mph) where I swear it affected the handling...
