I almost always sit between the lanes if there are more than one, and on the far inside (away from the curb) of a single lane. Once there, I usually cover the rear brake and have my left foot on the ground. I relax my hands and arms to have a bit of a rest. Sometimes I'll cross my arms and rest...

To provide a more serious answer... I find riding almost like meditating. You have to put everything else out of your mind and focus 100% on what you are doing. You can't let up for one minute or that might be the time you end up hitting a patch of gravel or some idiot who pulls out in front...

Personally I think there shouldn't be any helmet laws at all. Leave it up to natural selection to sort everyone out.

So what's the perceived wisdom on cleaning the rear wheel? I have loads of chain lube, road grime, etc... and it's a bugger to get off. Should I use the chain cleaner or will it harm the wheel?
