I didn't like the ABS on the Z1000, although probably would on a tourer. I found it made the rear lever feel softer, and was more difficult to feel it under heavy braking.
Have fun riding in any case! Of your shortlist I don't think you could buy a bad bike anyway.
I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned but it's worth repeating if so. I discovered this a few years back and use it nearly daily.
If you listen to an iPod or iPhone on your commute, you NEED this. It's a wireless and waterproof remote for them. You strap the velcro wristband to your...
Yeah I'd like to see pics of the tyres, as 22k miles seems far too much. Even if they're not hitting the wear indicators, I'd have changed them for profile reasons far earlier. Enjoy your new rubber!
Yeah but what I'm trying to convey is that we could all do what you've posted about riding smoother etc, yet would be able to be even smoother if the mechanical issue was rectified.
These are just a 'you should do them anyway' list. If you remove the mechanical issue then you don't have to...
Yeah they're sweet out of the box hey. If it were mine I'd just be going some nice levers and LeoVince pipes. The 3-1 system is supposed to haul butt although I haven't tried it (and rather like the look of the stock system anyway).
Such a sweet ride, well done mate.
But riding a gear higher is an extremely compromising solution to this problem. It's like saying ride slower. We're trying to fix the issue so it doesn't slow us down. Using a higher gear will drastically slow you down, assuming you had the correct gear when experiencing the issue.
Does your bike have the stock BT020 tyres? If so please get them changed on your service, they're crap! I locked my rear twice (in a straight line) involuntarily, and I've never before then locked the rear involuntarily in over 15 years of riding. They really are crapola.
I bet you could get a great deal on a VFR800 right about now.....and for touring it's right up there on my list. I had one for 4 days of touring early this year and other than feeling a bit squirmy on the tightest of corners, it had plenty of drive out of them to keep up with mates on sportsbikes.
Anyone removing their 02 sensor with the PCIII install? I know the PCV has it in the installation manual as needing to be disconnected, but not the PC3 manual hence I left it intact.
Had a mechanic say I should remove it but I'm doubtful.
You're off "Insure my ride" for life then! The least stringent at the moment is NRMA, but of course you pay :) And for that reason the 675 is going to be a far easier choice than a 1000 or 1050!
If you get a Street Triple, just got one piece of advice. Buy an aftermarket regulator and install it unless you want to risk an unexplained breakdown. It's the kryptonite of that range of bikes.
