    Kamikaze Squirrels???

Haven't encountered a kamikaze squirrel, but we have racer rabbits out here. They'll line up on the side of the road then sprint in your lane as you drive by. Every now and then they dart further into the lane rather than off to the side of the road and they go thump pretty good.

    My Maintenance Day

Re: My Maintenance Day Pt 1 & 2 So I figured I'd add to my original thread. I've been making a long ride the last few days and will be going back and forth a couple hundred miles the next two days, so made some more changes. 1. Added a F.E. kit just because I could. ;) I was never bothered...

Red FZ6 on Old Julian Road today.

Hey Cliff! That was me. :D I ran Valley Center -> Cole Grade -> South Grade up/down -> Mesa Grande -> Old Julian -> 78 -> home. I thought it might be you on the blue FZ heading up Old Julian. Hope you had a great ride. Craig

    Sad, sad day...

Terribly sad new :( . RIP to your coworker and hopefully everyone that knew her can hold on to the good memories and get through this tragedy. I can't imagine what her two children are going through, but I hope they have people they can lean on to get through as well.

    Ahhh hit and run

Dang, sorry to hear about the bad news :( . Even worse that it happened on base and not only did no one admit to it, but that there's little to be done.

    Hot enough for ya?

We've been pretty toasty, but I can't complain after seeing Vegas's temps! We've been 98-102 all week, but we're cooling down and hopefully that will continue for a while. We'll probably hold in the mid 90s.

    My Maintenance Day

So I might be doing some long rides and at 6,600 miles I decided to pull the plugs and take a look at them. Well pulling plug 1 was enough to make up my mind and go pick up some iridium plugs. I removed the airbox, wanted to change the filter anyhow, and dropped the radiator. My hands simply...

    Site Outage....

Sure, choose the day that I set to change the spark plugs and air filter. I had to figure it out all by my lonesome. :Flip: ;) We all appreciate the site and hard work you put into it. Including dealing with ISPs.

Tear and Abrasion Strength by the #'s

I look forward to hearing how you like them in the heat. Even though it's been pushing 100 here I'm still wearing the leather jacket with Olympia Airglide pants. Every time I wear my mesh jacket I get the uneasy feeling that it's not going to do much if I hit the ground. I'm so much more...

    help please !

I run different brands front and back, but I can't say that I'm thrilled with the idea of running different profiles. I'd rather run same front and rear, but I've never had a moment where I felt uncomfortable on the road, and haven't shelled out the money for a new front yet. Eventually I'll...

Do you use your helmet bag??

I think I have the rain liners for my jackets and pants stored in the Shoei helmet bag, and I'm not sure where the Fox dirt helmet bag is. My helmet goes safely under my desk when at work and on my dresser when I get home. I clean it and the visor on a regular basis and it still looks new...

    Took the MSRC.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the MSRC. I'm looking at taking some more advanced riding courses/school this fall and I'll keep an eye out for this as well.

    Beautiful ride

Sounds like a heck of a ride. I bet the scenery up there was great and the weather even better; at least compared to the heat down here. I'd pick a BMW for a long distance tourer any time of the week over the Harley.

    Cleaning tires

I use a product called Bean Clean. I use it for chain, swing arm, wheel cleaning. It's all natural and cleans most everything up and is safe for 0-ring, x-ring chains. Follow up with a constant flow of water to rinse and good to go. I use asphalt to clean the tires.

FZ1 vs. FZ6 Just the Numbers

    Must have crossed you eyes ;) FZ1 60-0mph 111 feet. FZ6 60-0mph 116 feet.

    WTB: Used Tire

Not so much a safety issue. I kept the tire with the intention of plugging it and using it as a backup tire in case something worse happened to a current tire. For commuting and what not I would ride a plug; patched from the inside it's not uncommon for people to get full use out of a patched...

    WTB: Used Tire

I have a factory stock Dunlop with approx. 200 miles on it. Right at 200 miles I caught a screw in the tire and chose to replace it rather than have someone plug it. It's yours if you want it as it's just taking up room in my garage. I'm in Escondido.

    Difficulty Using Center Stand

Glad to hear you've got the routine down! I'll take a look at my center stand when I get home to see if the legs are symetrical, because I've never really paid attention. :don'tknow: On a side note, here's a lil story about things that once learned are easy as pie. When I bought...
