    Is my bike an import?

You should def have an immobilizer if it's a UK bike, as well as the POD lights. As everyone has said, the components will all be the same so overall quality is not the issue. You could check by calling your local Yamaha dealer (maybe not the one you bought it from!) and asking them to run a...

    Visor Misting (in the cold)

Pinlock or other visor insert definitely the way to go! No messing around with soap etc needed! Never had any issues with mine in all weathers. Fit it once (can be a bit of a pain) but then that's it - spend more time riding instead of smearing 'cat crap' (what a great name!) all over your visor!

fz6 making us PROUD chasing cbr 600rr

Now up to 21 moms per hour ;) Just kidding Humperdinkel. The great thing about this forum is that it is populated by (mostly!) responsible riders. None of us are perfect, and some of the attraction of motorbikes includes the speed and risk, but I would not want to see this site turn into just...

    Insane Scooter Mods!

Ha ha! Funniest thing I've seen in quite a while! I am picturing some issues with speed bumps :D Also, I think that's the first time I have EVER seen a rear wing/spoiler on a motorbike! I did like the gulwing-opening side cases on one of them!

fz6 making us PROUD chasing cbr 600rr

Ha ha! 20 moms per hour - we should use this as a new measure on future posts to show how risky/stupid a video is. I think you were going a bit more than 20 moms per hour here - but I've seen far more risky vids, easily 50 moms per hour! You have really nice straight roads where you live ;)...

    Tyre Condition

Almost 13000km on my stock tyres now! I bought the bike second hand from an instructor who hardly used it. And for the first year of riding I was pretty steady and on crappy unexciting roads in the UK (and mostly commuting) it did start to square off a bit. But since moving to France the Fazer...

New seat cowl for the Buell

David I love your bike! Can I have it please? S'il vous plait??? Somewhat random but shocking: I just got in touch with an old friend for the first time in about 2 years. He works for Harley in the UK. He's got a 1125 cr. He told me that he got a MASSIVE discount as an employee. I almost...

London to Lisbon in early April

Yeah motorways are boring - in France they are expensive as well! I recommend getting off them to see some nice things on the way. It makes it soooooo much nicer! It'll take you a lot longer though. I took a ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff in Brittany, and then rode to Lyon. Only about 7 hours...

Looking for an 04-06 euro headlight

Yes, I thought about that but there are a couple of issues. First being postage costs, and second being that the headlight must display an 'E' mark, showing it meets European standards. I am not sure if US headlights have this, and I KNOW the French inspector will not pass it without it!

Looking for an 04-06 euro headlight

Hey all, So after living in France for one year I finally need to matriculate my UK Fazer and get French plates. Importing it will be a bureaucratic nightmare I am sure (you have to get so many bits of paper stamped etc!). Luckily I don't have to make too many changes to the bike itself as...

    Curse you, oil filter!

So true! Been there and had to use the screw driver method which just makes a mess of everything! Hand tighten, check regularly for leaks and re-tighten and top up the oil if necessary. I've never had any problems since using this method. The big 'nut-cracker' oil filter wrench works to get...

What do you all do for a living?....

Boom, problem solved! Made me laugh, and is now my saying of the day! Every time I do something I am going to say 'Boom! Problem solved!' Ha ha! I teach English to French kids, and am about to start training employees at French businesses to improve their levels of English. For example, I...

OK, your all-time fav bike hero......

OK, so Charley may not fit into bike hero status exactly. But for me I loved that series, and it inspired me to do something the same. And I guess everyone has a personal answer which you may not agree with. Doesn't mean you have to get quite so personal with your rant! I read another thread...

OK, your all-time fav bike hero......

Cool thread! So many to list! Doohan, Rossi, Shwantz etc all great! Just a few that no one has mentioned, and are not just superbike/GP riders - John McGuinness - Isle of Man legend. Evel Knievel - stunt god and hero of most boys born before 1980! Travis Pastrana - doing things...

rant rant rant against gixxer 1 million crowd

I can't understand how the law allows you to have a 1000cc bike at the age of 16!? And so many people say they know someone who rides with no licence or insurance! What is all that about???? Where are the police? In the UK you can't ride anything bigger than 50cc (no I didn't miss out any...

    Latest FZ8 Pics!

I think this is spot on! In all the press everyone is saying it's a replacement for the FZ6 but no - the FZ6R is (however much of a downgrade this is!). Look at this from Yamaha's business perspective. They want a 'beginners' 600cc, a sport 600cc (R6) and the litre bikes in the FZ1 and R1. But...

    Weather

It's been fun looking at all the pics of the snow back home in Blighty. We've had a lot here in France too. Anymore and I may have to invest in one of these!!!!! YouTube - BMW GS on ice......motorcycle skis!

    Oxford Wrap-around heated grips

Hey they look pretty cool, and simple to fit. I've got a set of Oxford heated grips. I braved the cold weather on Saturday as I've not ridden for 2 months! I've got decent gear but my god I was cold! It was about 0 degrees C (when you factor in the windchill it must have been damn cold!)...
