I did basically the same thing last Friday. As I got off my bike it tipped over onto my wife's Honda Rebel. There wasn't a scratch on her bike until then. It put a small crease in her tank, but it didn't scratch the paint. I'll take it to a body shop when the weather gets better and see it...

I was experiencing the same problem shifting into 3rd. I tried adjusting the shift lever with no success. I ended up taking the bike to the shop. They adjusted the shift lever and said they couldn't find anything wrong. I haven't had any problems since.
