I have used light smoke for day and night on occasion. I don't really think light smoke is good enough during sunny days, but passable during night. I used transition lens sunglasses, but, they don't really get dark enough either (for my taste) during sunny days, not to mention getting foggy...

You have to do lots things to the engine before you can take true advantage of the turbo and not blow up your engine. Most naturally aspired engines are not designed to take the abuse you would get from forcing the air into the cylinders in amounts that actually matters for the performance...
