Error code 12 is the crank shaft position sensor. Sometimes the ECU will toss any code if the voltage is low and erratic. Have you pulled the ECU and inspected the connector and pins? All sensors and controls have to handshake at the ECU.

Has anyone tried cracking open the gauge cluster of 2005 FZ6N? I want to clean the inside reason is the reset button isn't functioning I removed the cluster but it does not have any screw to open it. I bought a new TPS sensor and i cant calibrate it if i cant enter diag mode.

There was a tps related code but I didn't know how recent it was thrown up. The tps reads OK was just a parameter check on the speedo. The original reply spoke of the symptoms of tps playing up. My bike ticked all those boxes. I have not done a multimeter test as it is all witchcraft to me. Thanks.

In post 4 you mentioned that 'Tps reads OK'. Did you test it with a multimeter or did you mean there were no tps-related codes? You need to get the TPS replaced per the recall, but you also want to make sure that is the problem......

Thank you for the update. The TPS was a recall for the 2005 model. Not the 2006. Some countries use the date the vehicle is first registered as the year of the bike so maybe that's why the Yamaha guy said 2006 had the recall problem. I think we've discussed the different possibilities of noise...

The first rule of trouble shooting; do one thing at a time. Work on the fuel system, then look beyond. If the TPS was bad, you’d throw a code.

A TPS even thou showing good thru the diagnosis can still be bad. Many bad units do show good.. The early FZ's had a re-call (which is still valid). Might want to check your VIN#. A sync wouldn't hurt but the variations your getting points to the TPS... .

Today I have checked for error codes and tps reading's. Tps reads OK but 4 error codes. 12,15,30,46. 12 and15 refers to tps and crank sensor problem's.
