    Unicorn

One of the very few shortcomings of the FJR is that it doesn't have a helmet lock. But I'll soon be adding two of Scott's special helmet lock brackets. I realized this past week that third gear on the FJR is a bit taller than high gear on my stock ratio FZ6. The FJR does about 64 mph at 5000...

    Unicorn

Scott - you're right. It could have sold for much more. Because of your post I checked the VIN and it was clean. Thanks for the 10 minutes of heartburn. Blah I wasn't really worried. The guy was very genuine. We met at his credit union - where they knew him, and the title was clean.

Ital - $8000. I sorta feel like I stole it. See my initial post, revised, for the story.

Wow, no replies yet I can send a pic of the adaptors on my gen 2. Prob not the same but you will be able to see the intent. Chris

    Unicorn

I bought a 2016 FJR1300A. Great bike, great price for the new gen with only 31,000 miles. No - I have not named her "unicorn." Blah I titled the post "unicorn" because it is very rare to find a 2016 for sale and even more rare to find one for a price much lower than the...

How many miles are left when its on the last bar of the gas gauge?

The manual says the reserve (the amount remaining in the tank when the F Trip starts flashing) is 0.95 US gal. SO, the distance you can get before it runs dry will be somewhere between 50 miles, if you're riding for mileage, or as few as 30, if you're blasting through twisties. Happy riding!

    Cosmetics - Sticker Removal

Itty bitty trivial issue.. This past weekend I decided to remove the warning sticker about "read the manual and wear a helmet" that was mounted on the gas tank just forward of the fill cap. It was getting yellowed from spills. So I took a razor blade to it then used mineral spirits to rub...

Bike won’t turn over and start

Gabbo, I agree the problem is likely to be the battery and not the charging system. It is also possible that the battery isn't completely dead. This bike doesn't put out enough current while idling to put any charge into the battery. It might actually drain it a bit while idling. After...

Do you wave at Harley riders?

Thanks Scott. Your explanation makes more sense. I've seen the downward V sign from riders on all sorts of bikes so I didn't think it was a Harley thing. I'm going to keep waving, but I think I'll use a Fonzie type thumbs up. Chris

Do you wave at Harley riders?

Ital, When I returned to riding a few years ago, a friend explained to me that the current way to "wave" is to extend two fingers, index & middle, and then point them to the ground. That's supposed to mean something like "keep the rubber on the road and the shiny side up." When I started...

    Downshift problems

Rose, Hi and welcome to the forum. All of the earlier posts have good advice but please try the simplest things first. The problem that you've described sounds like an issue that I faced the first fall season that I had my FZ6. I feared that my transmission was ruined and I would be facing a...

    FZ6 Wont Start

The headlights don't turn on until the engine starts. Good luck with getting the bike started.

    Newbie question re downshifting

RPF, What do mean when you say the downshift is starting to fail and that you have to shift up and down to find first? If what you are describing is that the downshifts are getting difficult and you have to push/pull harder and it becomes hard to tell if or when you get into first, then...

sputter exhaust sound while maintaining speed

I agree with Scott. I think that sound is fairly normal. I have a stock muffler that a previous owner partially gutted. He did a good job and the sound is nicer and deeper and doesn't sound like an open can. I also get that sputter sound when backing off of the throttle. I call it a chuckle...

What Tyres do you guys recommend for 2004 Yamaha Fazer 600 S.

Justin, Sporty tires like the Pilot Power have very grippy rubber but do not go as many miles. Sport-touring tires like those listed by Zixaq are designed to give more miles while still having decent grip. (You do not have to go touring!) Most/many of these have dual compound designs where...

    Harriman

I'll be on that road tomorrow! I'm vacationing in NY visiting my wife's folks right on the edge of the park. I've ridden the other roads through Harriman but never found it on the loop to do Arden Rd. Thanks for the video. Chris

best (android) mobile route-planning app for trip to upstate NY

I also use CoPilot and recommend it. I have the iOS versions but I believe the android version has the same features. As Tejkowskit says, the maps are loaded on the phone so you don't use cellular data while navigating AND you will still have the map and GPS if you go into the sticks where you...
