    Chain tension too much at certain point?

    While we are here - 50MM measuring from where? Middle of chain when at its' highest and lowest points? Or _include_ the chain, so upper-of-chain at top and lower-of-chain at bottom?

    ~~~ What did you do to your Bike Today Thread??? ~~~
    Soo.... with temperatures dropping, figured it was time to install the new wire (to battery) for the replacement controller (Warm n Safe) for my heated vest. Always a PITA to get the plastics out, etc, so "while I'm in there...." - new wire to battery installed (yes, it has a fuse) -...
    Happy 8-year Anniversary
    On this day - October 9, 2015 - I officially purchased and brought my FZ6 home. First bike I've owned since forever (teenager)! Bought it sight-unseen (my older brother drove an hour to check it out for me), bought it before ever riding on one, or sitting on one, or even seeing one in person -...
    Gary, you are going to need a bigger garage in about 3 years, is my prediction....
    2012 Yamaha fz6r high idle
    So first, this site/forum is dedicated to the FZ6 - your FZ6R is a totally different bike. Having said that, it is a friendly and very knowledgeable bunch (me not so much - on the knowledgeable side). When you say "it's not the cable there is slack" - are you referring to your throttle cable...
    Information Well that was pointless...
    Plus One on this... I have it, I believe it has helped and not an expensive 'fix'/tweak.
    Rear sprocket - plus 2 teeth
    maybe it's just me but without any periods to demarcate the different sentences, I just see... one massive run-on sentence. (shrug)
    Replacement Ignition switch re-key?
    @TownsendsFJR1300 was making/selling them for a bit - I have one, still use it. He provided instructions to re-key to your ignition key. Dunno about any others, but that would be my guess
    Snapped Exhaust Stud....now what?
    machine shop is probably best. But if you insist on doing yourself, I would (personally) do something like: - centering drill bits to make a hole in the center of the remaining bolt - https://www.amazon.com/self-centering-drill-bit/s?k=self+centering+drill+bit - then take a torx bit, slightly...
    Any Advice/Guidance on selling bike that needs work?
    Agreed, just watched the latest 280z video earlier tonight. I find him pretty amusing.
    Ordering new seat from Spain or USA
    I have the Shad as my daily driver - have for years, so can't really recall how it compares to the OEM one. I think 'marginally to OK-ish' better but I don't believe it was a revelation and solved all my issues. My original seat pan went to Terry Adcox (terry's custom seats), who built up...
    Help me understand wind blast (>110 kph)
    Crap - ignore all this, re-read and your bike is Naked. Doh!! _______ I have an S1, and have replaced the stock windscreen with a Givi - which is _marginally_ taller. It's enough that I no longer have an issue (or it's less of an issue... or I'm used to it?). I've done long days (~750 miles)...
    Question How to build more power
    My 2 cents (other than Gary is right)... - stainless steel brake lines.... big improvement in my mind. - clutch push lever from an MT07... improves clutch lever feel https://www.partzilla.com/product/yamaha/1WS-16340-00-00 - suspension (as mentioned) - I've stiffer springs/heavier oil in front...
    EU FZ6 (Fazer?) and Stelvio Pass
    Last week, during a family trip to Northern Italy/German/Austria, I had two highlights worth sharing (here). 1) While at Eagle's Nest, waiting for the bus to the top, I heard a familiar exhaust note.. and sure enough, it was an FZ6! Rather, the EU version, I think a Fazer? It had the round...
    Question Bike Overheating! Thermocure works?
    OK good. Next item I would consider is the thermostat. Cheap part to replace, but if it is not opening, that could also be an issue (I think - there are smarter ppl on this forum, but I've had to replace a thermostat in other bikes, so...). I think you can test that by removing the thermostat...
    fz6 2005 brake hoses
    I have Spiegler SS brake lines and can confirm, no junction/split - 2 fittings + banjo bolt as @Motogiro sez
    Question Bike Overheating! Thermocure works?
    Obvious first-question to my mind... does your fan kick in at all? It should/is supposed to. I would verify that first before going down any other rabbit hole - but that's me.
