    Engine surging

Learned something new tonight. After my test rides on Saturday where I kinda confirmed it was the coolant temp sensor, I noticed that some of my connectors looked a little grungy, so I figured it was a good time to get out the contact cleaner and dielectric grease. Cleaned things up and...

    Engine surging

Thanks Amazon. When you list something as 'delivered tomorrow', I interpret that as "Today's" tomorrow, not tomorrow 2 days from today. New delivery date for the sensor is tomorrow. That's tomorrow from TODAY. :)

Thanks Gary. I ordered Permatex 59214 because it would arrive in the same Amazon box.... specs say good to 400F. Waiting for parts today.

    Question New foot pegs?

Very sturdy. I am no lightweight. At 230lbs, I can stand on the pegs all day and they are like a rock. And they are not slippery like the rubber ones when wet And apparently they can enhance your riding pleasure ( Thanks @Gary in NJ :) )

    Engine surging

I think I got it. I went ahead with the 'uplugging the sensors' test, starting with the coolant temp sensor. My thinking was that of the 3 suspects, the coolant temperature sensor lives the hardest life. So before making any changes, went out for a control ride to make sure the problem was...

    Engine surging

Update - Not much to update.... I went out for am hour-long ride yesterday and the surging was pretty bad. Wondering if it is temperature related. Still lots of raw data that supports no conclusions.... Couple of things to report... 1 - Temp display still seems to be low. Yesterday was 85...

    Question New foot pegs?

I got tired or replacing the rubber on the OEM pegs, so a few years ago I installed these: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/psr-sbk-footpegs-yamaha-1991-2023?sku_id=950191 I like them...

This parts breakdown should help. Otherwise it it is pretty straight forward, just lay out the parts as you disassemble. Make sure to grease the bearings on both sides if the shaft. https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/motorcycle/2005/fz6-fz6st/starting-motor

    FZ6 Dominator exhaust

I put the Dominators on last year, the New GP style with the medium killers. I can't compare to the hard killers, but I will say that before the Dominators I was using a drilled out stock muffler. The mediums on my bike are a bit louder than the drilled, but they are not a problem when riding.

    Anybody try Caltric clutch (amazon)

I did my clutch a few years ago. There was no real problem with the old clutch, but I too have a high-miler (I am at 79,700 miles). I looked at aftermarket like EBC, but in the end the advice I got from other members won over. The OEM clutch is engineered for the bike and while it might be a...

    Engine surging

Update - Added a shock treatment of Ringfree (10oz in a full tank) and put about 120 miles on it today. The problem is still there. I don't think that the RingFree is going to fix the issue, but I did notice better smoothness when picking up the throttle and in overall operation. I am...

    2004 fz6

I upgraded the exhaust on my 05 two years ago and I found that there were not many options. I ended up ordering a set of Dominators and I love them. They are affordable, were ok to install and sound great. Good luck

    Engine surging

Was thinking about looking for a used throttle body assembly and scarfing the injectors from there. Or waiting to the off-season and sending mine...

    Engine surging

Bunch of maybes... More to the story. When I did the subframe painting, I removed my Power Commander Fuel Controller. With that, I reverted back to my stock 'Co' settings. But I fat-fingered the C2 entry, made it 0 instead of 6. Not positive of what the Cx settings do, but it seems pretty...

    Engine surging

Thanks Cliff. Was going to go through that last night but was too lazy to pop the tank and disconnect the fuel pump. Will do that in the next day or 2 and report.

On the way from Amazon. Should have a full report by next weekend......

    Engine surging

Ok, I ordered 32 ounces of Ring Free. I will shock the fuel system with 10oz initially. That will leave me 22 ounces, enough for 4 fill-ups at the regular dosage if needed. Stuff is expensive. Was wondering if I could use Tito's Vodka. Less than half the price and I can make martinis with...

    Engine surging

Resurrecting this old thread.... Had the surging today. Had it last year once and it mysteriously went away. Prior to the issue today, I had filled up recently and added seafoam to the tank just for s&g. Rode it once last week and no issues. Today I head out to a Bikes & Breakfast meet...

Click click click with orange blinking light

This might be helpful. I just finished up a similar (but not exact) problem. My bike was starting fine until just recently after waxing it, it would no longer crank. Key on I got all the right sounds, fuel pump primed and everything. When I hit the starter button, I got 1 click coming from...

    Anyone ever rebuild a starter?

Will do. I went riding yesterday and everything worked fine. At minimum I am going to order the rebuild kit. Might actually order both. But for the time I plan on leaving the original starter in place.
