    Yet another FZ6 revival

Looks like the bike is also going from gray to orange. RTV on a head gasket? I would be suspect of the other work performed on the engine rebuild if the last mechanic thought it was OK to use RTV on the head gasket.

    Crashed my beauty

Your local paint shop should be able to color match the paint very well. They can provide you with the necessary supplies to run the paint through a HVLP gun, or they can even make you some rattle cans if you don’t have a paint gun. Since the tank isn’t dented, regular body filler will work...

    Crashed my beauty

You want to use a body filler specifically designed for ABS plastic. I’ve had good luck with U-Pol Stronghold 706 Smooth High Adhesion Body Filler for Plastics. Don’t sand down the rough surface before filling…it will gum things up. Apply the filler in multiple light coats until you get to the...

    Crashed my beauty

Sorry to hear about your brother and bike. Looking at the photos it appears that everything is in proper alignment, meaning that the damage is strictly cosmetic. Since replacement parts are hard to come by, I suggest an old school approach to repairing the damage; body work. The damage is...

    New project 1986 FZ600

Love it. In that blue paint or powder coat? All of the chrome accents look new. Did you have them replated?

Need Help 2008 FZ6 Spraying Fuel out the Exhaust

It sounds like you have an injector that is stuck open. The 5psi difference in fuel pressure could be in the gauge itself.

    Ca. fuel..

Runs great on 87. Perhaps the prior owner performed the timing advance mod to the timing wheel. Otherwise it should work great on California 87 (I’ve never heard that CA has was different to the SAE standard) as thousands of other FZ6’s do.

Any opinion on this HID conversion kit?

I may be wrong, but Eastern Beaver’s sole operation is in Japan. You can email Jim at eastern beaver at [email protected] https://www.easternbeaver.com/about/ All of the wiring you need to run H4 bulbs already exist in the harness. The shell of an H4 connector is identical/interchangeable...

Looking for a 3-piece luggage system:rack and hardbags

Because the FZ6 has been out of production for over a decade there is little in the way of aftermarket support. Luggage, and most aftermarket accessories for the FZ6, are hard to come by. Your best bet is to browse eBay and other places where you can find used parts. But do know that luggage for...

Braided Stainless Steel is the outer protective layer...the brake line itself is Teflon.

Need Help New Member + 2008 questions: key, wheel lockup

Since you will have the brake system apart, now is a good time to install Teflon brake lines. It’s an inexpensive upgrade that makes a significant improvement to brake feel and function.

08' FZ6 S2 The hardest riding rear monoshock ever..

I despise damping rod forks. They don’t work. So no, I haven’t used straight rate springs with a damping rod fork…as I don’t think it is a good solution. Installing cartridge emulators takes just a few hours of effort, but in return you get forks that are comfortable and predictable every time...

08' FZ6 S2 The hardest riding rear monoshock ever..

I think that they are a significant improvement over the stock suspension. In order to implement the conversion you will need to fabricate custom axle spacers. You will likely need new springs. Here are my thoughts on the FZ6 suspension: Post in thread 'suspension improvement and adjustment'...

08' FZ6 S2 The hardest riding rear monoshock ever..

FZ6 has basic damping rods. Budget suspension. Damping rod suspension almost always use progressive rate springs because the damping rod is unable to provide rate-based damping.

08' FZ6 S2 The hardest riding rear monoshock ever..

In a linked rear suspension, the dogbone provides increasing resistance/leverage as the swingarm moves through its arc. In this application we use a linear spring. In a linkless suspension there is a one-for-one relationship between the swingarm arc and the movement of the shock. Using a linear...

08' FZ6 S2 The hardest riding rear monoshock ever..

The FZ6 has a linkless rear suspension, so a progressive rate (variable rate or rising rate..all the same thing) spring should be used on the shock. Progressive rate springs in forks is the work of the devil 😀.

Need Help New Member + 2008 questions: key, wheel lockup

Welcome to the forum. Regarding the key you can get a new key set (ignition & tank) from Amazon for less than you’d spend to have the key & tumblers re-cut. The lock-up is a strange one. The fact that he was able to push it to a wrecker indicates that the rear wheel wasn’t locked up. I can’t...
