    Triples, Twins, That's All

I think his point is that the 3 second average when exaggerated will be 2 on a high torque machine but 4 on a low torque machine. Even though the higher hp bike will eventually move faster, that initial head start could be hard to beat. Another viewpoint is the higher torque should accelerate...

    Triples, Twins, That's All

Shouldn't an I4 fire more frequently and deliver power more consistently than a triple? I'm missing something but in a 4 stroke, any piston has to revolve twice, the first time to fire, the second to exhaust and recharge. Therefore with a 4 cylinder, wouldn't the firing interval be 360 x 2 / 4...

    Blipping the throttle (Rev matching)

As I haven't seen my FZ in 8 months I could't remember if it had the adjustment dial or not :). Here's a look at the NC's brake btw. No adjustment without replacing the lever and all.

    Blipping the throttle (Rev matching)

Oddly enough when I did MSF about 4 years ago the coach specifically instructed us to use the index and middle fingers exclusively, presumably to prevent someone from clamping down and locking up. To my knowledge, neither my fz6 or nc700 have adjustable levers so unless I think ahead, I can't...

    Versys VS NC700x

It will definately purr along all day but if you want to pass anyone, you have to be ready to drop it from 6th (good from about 60 kph and up) to about 4th to get any sort of "kick" of acceleration, then be prepared to shift before the rev limiter is hit. When I move back to the States in 3...

    Versys VS NC700x

For the sake of anyone else's curiosity, I ended up buying the NC700S. Not bad but not nearly as much fun as the FZ6. It drives pretty nicely but I rather quickly noticed the limited power. For where I am living, racing up to a high speed only to have to drop back down every couple of km when...

Body position, skill, traction (loss of), lean angle = vid to discuss

Without ever really pushing bikes myself or knowing much about the finer points of all of the title topics, it seems like most of the lowsides are just leaning too far as a result of going too fast or not using enough offset with their body (hanging off the inside to allow the bike a more...

    Honda NM4 Announced

It looks to me like another spin off of the NC750 line. Also somewhat reminiscent of the newer Honda Goldwing F6B (that more aggressive looking version)

Thoughts from a new rider about the FZ6

When I bought my 2006 last March it had 1600 on the clock :) Now that I'm abroad though it will only progress when the coworker stewarding it rides it to keep the tires from getting flat spots and keep the battery from totally turning to slag.

Thoughts from a new rider about the FZ6

I have these Xelement Men's Advanced Level-3 Black and Yellow Green Tri-Tex Fabric Motorcycle Pants - LeatherUp.com . I have never had a spill at speed so cannot attest to resiliency but they feel pretty sturdy and are waterproof if you have the vents zipped closed. They might be a tad hot on...

    Versys VS NC700x

It's definitely not the same bike but the motor itself is (like how the fz6 uses a modified R6 motor). Lower horsepower but supposedly better low end torque. Under-body exhaust but it's not too well done aesthetically. My biggest reservations with the Versys are that I am the "normal" height...

    Versys VS NC700x

That's what I was thinking too. I did go to a Honda dealer today but as I am in Germany and need to wait until next week for my license conversion to be complete, could not test ride the samples they had. The NC700 did feel pretty good and they had several ABS units with the standard clutch...
