    Painting/Powder Coating Wheels

Aside from the fact that you've brought me back to a 4 year old thread..... Yes in fact aluminum does corrode. The oxides of aluminum are a grayish powder. When you have a polished frame, why do you think it gets dull? Guess what! Corrosion! Aluminum boats, outboard motors, aluminum...

    Shoei RF1100

I decided to keep the bird in hand, rather than futz around with getting another helmet that could possibly not fit as well as the RF1100 had proven to. I had hoped for even quieter; it's better than most in that regard, but I think another neck roll to seal out wind on the bottom edge of the...

    Shoei RF1100

Thanks for that. I'm trying to get a good idea of what would be quieter between this helmet and a SignetQ. I don;t like buying premium helmets, but if I have to in order to get one that fits my skull, it might as well be premium quiet, too.

    Shoei RF1100

Is anyone using this helmet? Is it quiet? I've been running an HJC CL-14 for more years than is advised.... mama decided it's time for a new lid. Having an XXL long oval head shape makes it a beyotch to find helmets that fit. The CL was bought when I needed a helmet and was not able to...

    '09 ZX6R -- one year, 12K miles later

Were it me, I would look for one from a '13 rather than the '09-'12 model. They used softer springs in the '13 and changed the adjuster locations to where you can tweak it all from up top. The FZ6, with straight rate .95 kg springs and modified damping is not a bad set up at all. The rear...

    '09 ZX6R -- one year, 12K miles later

I couldn't ride the thing without earplugs. Loud at idle -- positively shrieking at redline. Mid band, the sound carried near two miles. Much too loud, in my view. I won't lie, I enjoyed it right up to the point where I was told politely to make it quieter.....:D

    '09 ZX6R -- one year, 12K miles later

Too many things changed for me to say what the increase would be directly -- I'll ask my insurance agent here, what a comparable FZ6 would cost me (as the ZX6 is an '09, I can still do that) The M4 was surprisingly well built, very solid construction and good materials. Just way too fookin'...

    '09 ZX6R -- one year, 12K miles later

The front brake lever feel on this thing is the best I've owned... I'm sure braided lines would make it even better -- at some point I will go there. It was enough to flush the DOT4 and refill with fresh stuff and use the bleeder at the MC to remove that last bubble to make me appreciate the...

    '09 ZX6R -- one year, 12K miles later

I rode comparable year R6's, the power, ride quality, and maneuverability was IMHO quite similar. As I rode the R6 first, it stuck in my mind that the seat had a serious tilt to the front of the bike. I had to physically hold my groin off of the tank. Between that, and the near impossibility...

    '09 ZX6R -- one year, 12K miles later

I'm having trouble with Photobucket at the moment.... I will get some photos up there to share this week. I actually like the motor better with the OEM can on the system. Either way, the higher compression compared to the FZ6 makes it slightly more tractable on the bottom, and the rush as it...

    '09 ZX6R -- one year, 12K miles later

When I had to sell the FZ6 in '08, I was not terribly happy with the need. I'd finally gotten the suspension sorted out, and it was running like a top. I knew as a result, I would not willingly go back to OEM non adjustable suspension. When I got settled in VA, and we finally got my wife...

    1982 Yamaha XV920R Project Bike

Verrrry nice..... did you lay on some clear coat to keep them as clean as they are now?

Thinking about picking up a 07 Ninja 250R

Not trying to be the wet blanket in all of this.... if you are stationed in Germany, are you buying the bike from another service member, or is the bike out on the economy? Are there any legal concerns as a result? How does registration and the like work out?

    My Dad's bike

I have to think the script on the tank says Norton, and the one on the side cover says Commando. The cylinders are tipped forward as well, which was a design feature for that bike. Great photo, regardless. Thanks for sharing.

    Replacement Radiator fan

You would be well served to modify the installation, to include a deflector on bottom edge of the mount to keep debris out of the replacement. The fans die when they get jammed and burn out. (Not a very good design, IMHO)
