Thought you might like to see a couple old pics of some guy named "Eddie" riding a street version. A good friend of mine had the pleasure of restoring this very bike a year or two ago.
This is an interesting thread because my good friend (who is 5"10") liked the bars on my FZ6 so much, he put them on his FZ1! I guess that's why there's adultery...
I feel like I should comment as a 5'10" guy that had a 2007 Duc SR1000 Monster before I bought my 2009 FZ6. The Duc was so fun, but just to go for a putt. The FZ6 is much more versatile and WAY more stable. It's still fun in the mountains, but a very capable freeway machine also. I have no...
Congrats!
I've just done 11,000 miles on SoCal freeways in less than a year.
Lotsa lane-splitting, but no tickets and no scratches.
I think it's time to rethink my commute.
I was an airline pilot for 29 years. Finally hated being away from home so much that I took an early retirement at age 57. Gonna move to Lake Havasu, AZ, sit on my boat, drink beer and watch the ladies. It's gonna suck, but I'm goin' for it anyway!
As a side note, if you can't find a GPS unit, many cell phones have "speedometer" apps you can download. Some even give a free week trial period, which is enough to go out and verify your bike/car/boat speeds. It worked like a charm when I calibrated my Speedohealer.
Glad to be here. Phil, from San Diego, 58, retired airline pilot. I have
a 2009 FZ6. This is my 8th bike. Honda CB160, '39 Harley Knucklehead chopper (hey, I was 19!) Honda CB550, Vespa 200, Kawasaki ZX-11 (hang on!), Aprilia RSV Mille, Ducati SR1000 Monster, and now the Yamaha.
Beautiful bike, but I still like the old style Monster better, but then I'm partial to the memories of my SR1000. An all around "hooligan" machine! Alas, I needed a freeway commuter, so out with the Duc and in with the FZ6!!!
