+1 on using WD40.... However, first and foremost it is a water repellent. WD40 is used (and was actually designed) to drive out moisture, and leave a very light oil behind as mentioned. If you apply a lot of WD40 to your entire chain...leave for 10mins....then apply more and start scrubbing...

The contingency plan is to shove the bike in the back of the van yes, but I'd rather not do that because that would mean three grown men in the cab, on seats that were'nt really designed for three... I've done the M4 enough times as cage passenger to know exactly where the speed camera's are...

Layering seems to be key to staying warm, but a fellow biker said that layering different materials is even better, for example - long sleeve cotton t-shirt, polyester jumper, thin fleecy jumper, followed by riding Jacket with thermal liner (anybody would think I was going to the north pole!)...

Nah... from Yorkshire, lived in Wales for 15 year... then moved to Hastings after Uni to take my first job... 13 month later I got made redundant! Only good thing thats come from my living in hastings is getting my bike licence! I'm a chemist by trade and there aint much to offer round here it...

Ooops, forgot to add my update to this thread... I also passed! Only got 3 minors (which is v.good by UK standards) I had an outstanding examiner, crystal clear on the radio, took the weather conditions into account, he seemed to take everything into consideration, but most of all he made good...
