For what it's worth, I finally made the decision on my bike.... .... BMW F800R. Sorry guys, but after the test drive there was just no contest. However, these and the FZ1 forums are great, so I'll be sticking around. ;)

As in, driving for about 2 months now, on 125s at first and now on a 600 Transalp. Thanks guys, I appreciate all the great feedback! I'll have to make the call soon, and I'll let you know which way it goes. ;)

Hey folks I'm still giving serious thought as to whether to get the Fazer8 (which I quite enjoyed on the test drive) or an old FZ6, with plans to resell and upgrade in a year or two. Cost isn't really an issue, but getting something I can handle well enough to pass the (incredibly difficult)...

Price isn't as much of an issue for me at the moment, so I'm not too worried about that. But the liter bike just seemed like way too much power for me to handle at the moment...

Speaking of terminology... is there a more or less "standard" definition of the word beginner? I've got about 40 hours on the saddle now (10 with an instructor) and I'm starting to feel like the beginner advice I read on the web is targeted at people who haven't even ridden before... Silly...
