Sounds like a bad battery -- I had exact same thing happen just after I got my "carryover" '06. Dealer replaced it FoC and no issues since then! Good luck!

Can't imagine why not. I presume the charger outlet is just a fused wire pair, hooked up directly to your battery? If so, check the label on the back side of your GPS and verify that its rating is 12V at less than/equal to 900 mA. If so, you should be good to go!
