Wow that is bizarre. I did get mine sorted, it was the chip in the key that needed replacing. It turned out to be more complicated that just reprogramming a key. There are a number of different kinds of chips that the keys come with. Some chips can be reprogrammed with the process that Youngy...
Hi All..
I recently lost one of the key to my FZ6N '05 so I had to buy a new key... £30... ouch..
I thought I could reprogram it myself using the red key and the bike and I tried a process that Youngy found somewhere posted below... but it didn't seem to work with this new key.
Has...
IT WORKED! What a sense of accomplishment!
Thanks for the advice Alan! I'm glad you recommended testing with the relay unplugged as my relays were not in the correct order and it ended up being the 2nd from the left.
In case anyone else reads this on the 2005 FZ6N, it is the Blue/Black Wire...
OK I've almost got my Hot Grips installed... coooold in my garage working on the bike.
Alan, thanks for you help! I found the relays and but it appears my model (2005 Naked) has a different set up from the one in Post 12 above. I don't have a chunk green wire in the relay 3rd from the left...
OK I had a look under the seat of my FZ6N and.... :( it looks nothing like that pic above... mine is a complete mess.. I think mainly because of the Power Commander (stuff) that make all the connections look a mess.. I could not find the fat green wire... but may be because it is so Fing cold...
Thanks Alanrim!!! that is really helpful. I think I understand what you did. I'll give it a go and see what I can achieve!!
I really appreciate the detail you went into!!!
Cheers mate!
Hey Alanrim, you don't have any pics of this do you by any chance... I am a complete muppet when it comes to electrics.
I have a naked FZ6 so I want to do exactly what you have done here, but I don't know how to "brake into the headlight circuit and soldered a fused flying lead into the loom"...
Thanks All... as you said Sth Lrd only the pattern is different...
I just got this email back from Oxford
Dear Sir,
Thank you for your email.
The only difference between the original and sports grips is the pattern on the grips there self.
Please see the website for the...
Thanks guys, I think I am going to go with the Sport as I think they are the most recent... but I don't think it really matters... probably just grip texture.
now I just have to decide if I install them myself or if I get it done professionally.
Hi all...
I have decided I need some heated grips and after a lot of research it seems that the Oxford Hot Grips are the go.

And you know what is funny, I asked the guys at the Yamaha Service centre, "Is there anyway I can re-program the key myself because it is difficult to get into the service center", to which he first hesitated and said "No"
So they were going to make me come...
I'll have to have a look in the manual... if I can do it myself great...
I rang the Yamaha service center in SW London... and they will charge me 15mins labour.
Hi Everyone...
I live in London but am over in the US in November so I was thinking about picking up some winter gear whilst out there (assuming the GBP strengthens a little)
Can anyone recommend the best online store to purchase from as I'll have it delivered to me hotel.
Also... any...
Thanks everyone for your ideas...
It looks like it is the key encoding. I read the manual last night and tried the 'Red' key (as tomari also suggested) and that worked. Immobilising flashing red light no more. The other Spare key also works... however when I try the original key I have been...
