    Speedometer accuracy

I think you got that backwards, right? My FZ6 speedo indicated 7% high off the showroom floor. The odometer was 2% high. If you change the front sprocket from 16 tooth to 17 tooth the speedometer will indicate less than 1% high around 60mph. Of course then the odometer will indicate...

how fast u going at 5000 rpm 6th gear

On my 2009 FZ6, with stock sprockets (16 and 46) I found that my speedo would indicate 60mph at ~4900 rpm. However, measured speed (from GPS and from radar) was only 56.1 mph. I found that a 17tooth sprocket in front makes my indicated speed match measured speed (again based on GPS with WAAS...

    Tips on pumping gas

I think something that trumps everything mentioned in this post is filling up at one of those pumps that has one hose for all 3 grades of gas. My ASSUMPTION is that the hose remains full of whatever was pumped last. The hose, pump, and line volumes all after the selector valve probably are...

Bi-Xenon projector with angel eye installed

Tim, Are you sure that this G5 projector will fit? I almost ordered a set of these but wasn't sure if they would fit since they are a bit longer than the G1's. Also, will the supplier sell you one H4 and one H7? Let me know what you find out! Thanks, Brian

    My Hall Of Shame

Jeremy, I'm really sorry to hear about your accident. There are so many risks in life and it is easy to get complacent and make one minor mistake like not securing your pack... As I was driving to work last year on snow-packed icy roads (I grew up driving on ice, so I'm really good at it), I...

    r6 lowers

ditto ditto ditto... I wish the yamaha fairings weren't so expensive or I would already have them. Personally I don't like the looks of the little fairing at the bottom, I like the whole thing faired. I keep thinking that the un-faired look will grow on me but it still hasn't...

    For sale: 2008 fz6s2

I would have gladly bought this bike if it would have been for sale 6 weeeks ago. I bought a new one and paid a lot more. Hopefully things pick up for you and you can keep it!

    speedometer error

I stand corrected... You were right about the odometer being more accurate. After riding 100 miles today (as per the odometer) my GPS read 98.1 miles for an error of just under 2%. Yet the speedometer is off by a solid 7%. Seems like Yamaha may have added a 5% error to the speedometer...

    For Sale---2007 Fz6--2600 miles--Black $3500

The Sakota should be a good plane for that--I assume you are getting the 100hp engine? I think the light sport license is a great way for people to get into aviation at a somewhat "reasonable" price. I wish I could do my own annuals... Are you building it or buying one complete? Technically...

    For Sale---2007 Fz6--2600 miles--Black $3500

Thats an understatement.... They are also expensive to maintain--I paid nearly as much for my annual this year as you are asking for your bike. What kind of airplane are you looking at?

    bigger front sprocket

An old thread, but a good one. I ran the numbers for the reduction ratios. My speedometer is 6.7% off. It reads 60mph when my actual speed is 56mph. This is with new tires (<500mi). At the end of tire life the speedo error will be 10% due to the reduction in the tires rolling radius...

    speedometer error

Really? So you mean that the correct conversion between transmission output speed and distance is used in the odometer but that this value is then scaled to be wrong on purpose before being converted to speed and sent to the speedometer?? OK... since I'm skeptical I'll check the odometer...

    speedometer error

7% is a lot. Instead of 9300 actual miles, my odometer will read 10,000... Actually I use use GPS with WAAS in my other vehicles and their speedometers are all within 1mph at 60mph(gps). I was surprised that regulations allow a 5% on a new vehicle. Certainly there will be some variation as...
