Another vote for getting your Givi from Helmethead. I bought my Maxia 52L top case with tail lights and rack from him back in '08 when the bike was brand new. Great service. I'd go to him again.

I got 5k miles out of the stock BT-020 before they were both down to the wear bars (all the way across both tires, no chicken strips or worn out centers with plenty of rubber on shoulders). I just replaced them with new ones (same tire) and am enjoying a much smoother ride. I should have done...
Good job. Mine is similar only I installed a relay so it is powered directly from the battery but only when the engine is running.
I used a Marinco waterproof 12v outlet.
I had this happen to me with an AGV XR-2 I had. I'll add that my helmet size is XL and I was wearing the proper size. I even tried a 2XL.
You're right in that it's the internal shape of the helmet that's the problem, thus an even larger one of the same design won't fix it as what happened...
