No roughness anymore, and no play at all. If it gets bad again I'll replace it but I'm gonna give it a go and see how much it improves. Thanks for the help with the diagram!
I did. 20 seemed to be stiff. I rubbed some oil on the rollers and then just turned it for 5 minutes and it got noticeably better. I put the shaft back in the cover and it still spun better than before. I'm going to reassemble tonight and see if that was all it was. If so I wonder why it wasn't...
I've owned the bike for 8 years, this issue has slowly gotten worse over time. I opened it up last night and I do not need any new clutch springs or plates, all are in spec and look very good, the bike only has 28k on it. When I took the cover off the marks on the cable retainer and clutch cover...
Title is pretty much it. Replaced clutch cable with new one and the effort to disengage the clutch is still almost requiring 4 fingers. Also, it feels like the clutch is only 85% disengaged when the lever is to the bars. Is it time for an entire clutch assembly replacement?
Yeah, I started out by cutting the stock exhaust clamp piece off the muffler and bending/welding a pipe up to a 10" glasspack that I made awhile back. It made it a bit louder but kept the noise down enough to where I wasn't bothered by it (I can't speak for other people though :sinister:). It...
Well everyone, I finally have my exhaust almost finished. I posted awhile back if anyone would be interested in a build thread, and quickly found out that I was not capable of finishing the exhaust I wanted correctly and efficiently. I didn't have the fabrication skills to make the exhaust...
I wish I had a good update, but I have been slammed with my internship and I just joined a 24 hours of lemons team, which is taking up the rest of my time. I promise as soon as the race is over next month to share pictures and continue the build to completion. It shouldn't take me longer than a...
Just to elaborate on the design process, it was much more crude than using a design software. My projects involved measuring the frequencies of the stock FZ6 sound and then comparing those to a drilled exhaust to see how the higher flow changed the frequencies. I found that the frequencies...
So I am a Mechanical Engineering major in Seattle and am currently in the process of welding together a custom exhaust on my 2005 FZ6. I've done some physics projects regarding frequencies in the exhaust notes of the stock sound and took an acoustics class to learn how I might better amplify and...
