they invent football (aka soccer)

then they get mauled every chance they get at every major tournament except some in the 1700's when Napoleon's hat-trick failed to out-do Sir Charles Lawrence's extra time penalty kick.

they invented sportscars.

then came ferarri.

they invented F1.

then came ferarri.



England...... no shame in quitting. We will all understand.

P.S. Peace and love, I love england its a great country with a tremendous history....but your sports record is appalling.

haha nothin brought it on, just sitting here on laptop nothing to do and got to thinking about euro tourney this summer and how england didnt qualify. then i had a blank moment when i started thinking about england in relation to sports.....absolutely NOTHING came to mind.

an injustice no doubt.

Failing to qualify for the Euro's will hopefully be the kick in the butt that we need.
Before England won the world cup in 1966 they also failed to qualify for the Euro's.
So here's hoping history will repeat itself.

I hope you understand what I mean. I always thought of England as a bunch of people that just would never no matter what surrender. It sucks that there are so many strange rules and cameras and such. I think you guys rock.
 
hopefully. id love to root for england. its the closest canada will ever make it to doing something noteworthy in international SOCCER

I dig french history but ffs i hate their sports teams for some reason.

i hope croatia goes buck wild again, that was magical back in 2000
 
but ya, maybe soccer's not your sport over there in jolly ole england. best give it up and take up Competitive Knitting or something. :)

Now being from Australia, i cant let you forget the Cricket....apart from the Poms grabbing the ashes back for a year or so recently, Australia has generally made England their whipping boys since Australia won the ashes back in 88-89....i remember well, because i was living & working in London at the time, and being an Aussie, was loving it!

And you know, Aussies, being the convicts that we are, love to stick it up the poms first & every chance we get!

Oh and us Aussie's seem to do a pretty decent job at Motorbike racing in the last 20 years or so, too...

But i will say this, you Poms have the best domestic football comp in the world...go the Gunners!

Whoever invents gets bested by their own.

Canada invented ICE HOCKEY and BASKETBALL, yet the STATES are the best in those games.

CHINA invented guns, but the STATES own that game.

STATES invented the car assembly line, but JAPAN mastered that market better than anyone else.
