So today... after working a 9 hr 3rd shift and staying up til noon (still havent slept as i'm typing this) i rode the bike to town to pick up some donuts.... turns out they dont fit in a jacket unless u want crumbly donuts... so i ran to ACE hardware to grab some bungees.... got the bungees... unlocked my seat, took key out of seat lock (dumbazz) put the bungees in by where the tool kit is... locked the seat back in place... Then... HM, wheres my keys? checked right pocket left pocket, the back pockets... hoodie pocket... nadda... "oh sh1t!" as the current situation walks up and slaps me in my exhausted face...
I only got one key in my bike so i was desperately trying to peel the sides of the seat up to get to the key... managed to get both bungies out, hoping it would drag my poor little key with them...but of course no.

So after a half hour of sweating my arse off in a jacket hoodie and polo... in the 3 h's... still couldnt see the key... i was thinking i was either going to have to have a key made by kawi or cut the seat off... (i have the stock seat sitting around somewhere)....then i lifted the very tail of the seat... to see how the locking mechanism worked and if it could be pryed... looked...nope. kawi made this system quite well, unfortunately...

As my eyes wandered back towards my tail-light, i realize my keys were sitting there... just out of reach! So i grabbed one of the bungees i pulled out and attempted to hook it... touched it, and it fell about an inch deeper in. I thought to myself "eff it, i'll risk a hand injury" (had been in the Ace parking lot for a while now and was starting to attract attention). So i lifted the locked in seat by the tail as hard as i could, jammed a hand in there grabbed it, and thanked my stars i wasn't going to have to call to get my bike towed...

So i unlocked my seat, put my key in my pocket this time... put the bungees back in and was putting the seat back on when a friend of my dad's pulls in the parking lot, asking about the bike, if it was new etc. (had no idea what just happened lol) i said "yeah had it a couple months now" He asked me how many cc's i responded, 650... he said, and i found this funny as it was also referred to by a FZ6 forum member as... "looks like something from star wars" and he went into the hardware store... I laughed and went to get my donuts... a sweaty mess...and when did they start making snapples in glass??? had to shove that in my pocket (luggage def gonna be my first mod).

Anyways, i thought i'd let my good friends at the forum have a nice long laugh at me :D

2 60+ hr weeks on 3rd shift then trying to stay up takes it's toll on you...lol

Are you safe to ride mate? I reckon you need some kip big time. I do dumb stuff like that after my night shifts lol.
At least you didn't ruin the doughnuts.
This has to be the first time I have heard of keys locked in bike LMAO.
Nelly

Yeah ride home was fine, it's not that i felt tired or was un aware to be riding, but my brain just effs up every once and again after being up that long... i won't ride if i think there's any possibility of drifting off... when i was like 8 some guy fell asleep at the wheel and hit us basically head on... hits close to home and made a point so i'll call for a ride before i do anything dangerous

A true classic moment! I locked my keys in my truck while trying to trailer my boat....Yours is a better one, by far. Glad you and the donuts made it home safe.

I looked for 3 hours around my house once because i lost my keys. Only to find them in the seat lock under my covered bike LOL. But i had a spare made as soon as i got the bike because im an idiot sometimes.

Glad everything (eventually) turned out o.k..
Laugh at your expense? Sounds exactly like something a dumb a$$ like me would/will do.:tard::rof:

Damn, really sorry you had to go through that. Glad you managed to at least fish the key out!

Now that I got that out of the way... :rof: :rof: .. *deep breath* :rof: :rof:

That's... a new one!

Congrats on making FZ-6 Forum History!

:p

Could be worse... I dunno how, exactly... but it could be worse :BLAA:

Thankfully the doughnuts, snapple, keys, and your hand made it out it one piece. At least until you are the doughnuts... :D

:rof: :rof: Dumbar$3 !!! Having said that i'll do the same thing in the not to distant future now you just watch :D

On another note , PLEASE dont ride with glass in your pocket  :spank: Always try & keep your pockets empty coz anything in them will stab you if you go down. All you need is a tank bag most of the time & you'll be amazed how much they fit in

Quite an experience eh? At least you worked it out, I would have easily broken something of great value or required medical attention after fishing the keys out...

Now this, should have been posted in the "hall of shame" section..:D

as far as i know, snapple has always been in glass. unless they started as glass and switched to plastic and went back to glass. tank or tail bag (even an expandable soft tail bag) can be amazing. turns your bike from a toy into an actual vehicle for minor grocery stops on the way home and so forth.

couple weeks ago my 2 year old son managed to push the locks down in the car and lock the keys inside with him. Tried to get him to unlock the door but he didn't have the strength to pull the catch up so I had to try and keep him company from the other side of the car while mum went back home (20 mins each way) to get the spare set of keys.

I had to have a big brick ready to smash the window in case he grabbed the hard mints in the front and started choking!!! - We learnt a lesson that day!!! :D

o man i left my key in the seat lock on my old ninja 250 a couple of times... one of those times was two blocks from time square :spank:....thank GOD no one noticed lol:ban:
