Looking to go with the naked front end, seen sooo many options on headlights my head is spinning. All i know is i love the naked look but cannot give up any lumens vs. stock and I have an HID ready for transplanting just not sure whats the best/ decently priced (no $600 headlights for this college student) headlight.

Personal opinions welcome.
Pictures even more welcome.

My opinion is that you will have to spend a decent amount of money in order to get the best output/best looking headlight. IMHO, I think the euro spec FZ6N headlight looks the best, but it's not cheap.

TBH, the best value is going to be the Buell headlight/setup or the FZ1N headlight/setup, but both of those are going to be close to your 600 dollar limit. Fortunately, there have been many threads on both of these setups that practically walk you through step by step on how to do either of these mods.

You do have the option of getting on ebay and trying to find a headlight/fairing, but most of them are meant for dirtbikes, and have not had the best reviews from people on this forum/other forums I've read. They are made cheaply, flap around in the wind, and have very poor light output.

It all comes down to what you want to sacrifice, quality or money.

Not true at all. You can get the Buell headlight for less than $100 (thus the reason I'm going with it and not the FZ1N headlight). Add in the Buell windsheild and mounting bracket, and you're still looking at less than $200 for the entire setup.

With the Buell headlight, you just need to come up with a mounting system (fork brackets) and a way to mount the speedo.

Also don't forget to factor in the money you can get back by selling your fairing. You can probably count on getting about $250 for it if it's clean.

I stand corrected! Thanks for the info. I thought the buell setup was more expensive than that. That makes me consider doing it.

Not a problem, dturpen. LOL...I've been researching this so much I feel like an expert on the Buell setup now. I've talked to at least 3 other member with that headlight and read every thread I can find, trying to get everything in place so when the time comes to start buying, I know exactly what I need.

The only reason I'm not doing it RIGHT NOW is because I don't want to miss any riding time, but man it's killing me.

Soooo, we can count on you to do a "How-to" install on the headlight? Including the brackets? ;)

The custom brackets is what's holding me back.
