I ride year round and change it every 3000 miles or less. Sometimes 2000, just depends if I have a free afternoon  I typically use Mobile1 4t synthetic.

I change between 5-6000km including oil filter with every change.20-50W seem to work better for me than 10-40W.

I know Rotella is made mainly for fleet vehicles but when used in a motorcycle it still should be changed at Yamaha's recommended intervals. Trailer trucks will run all day every day and therefore get very little water in the oil due to condensation.

Seems you're more concerned about water than viscosity breakdown, or contaminants (besides water)?

What happens when you get moisture in the case? I would have assumed it would turn to vapor and be forced out, but I guess not?

How about when I remember to???

I think the oil in the FZ1 is almost a year oil!!!

The R6 has two track days, or about 350 miles. It's due.

Time to buy some oil, filters and get to work.

Do we have to change the oil after 1 year?
What happens if we just ride it 2000-3000 km's per year and change the oil (fully synthetic) with two year intervals?

I change mine every 5-7000 miles in all my vehicles. It's a commuter so it doesn't sit very much. Really what happens is I notice I went 5000 miles, and I budget to get oil the next payday. I commute about 32 miles one way so the miles rack up quick.

They say to change your oil every 3000 miles or 6 months because of water intrusion. Synthetic isn't as susecptible to holding water, but it will. Really the oil will last forever, its the stuff in the oil (detergents, corrision inhibitors, etc) that wears out.

Once a year, right before I winterize her for the winter. Best to store with fresh oil inside. Mileage varies but usually under 2000 miles a year. It is a 06 and I just hit 6000 miles. Seattle's rainy season sucks by the way.

I usually don't store my bike, ride year round. I will change it when the CEL comes on, or when the oil pressure light comes on. Sometimes I wait until the clutch stops working...

3,000 - 4,500 miles. I voted 5,000.

I baby the bike 95% of the time and use Shell Rotella T6 full synthetic. The oil is still mostly clear at 3,000 miles. I use Purolator Pure One synthetic fiber PL14610 car filters.

I change my oil once, sometimes twice a season - but I don't put many miles on my bike, so that's a lot more often than the mileage choices shown.

I usually change my oil around 2000 miles, or less, (hence the "Whenever I Feel Like It" reply above). I use Mobil 1 Motorcycle Synthetic, 10W-40. I always change the filter as well.

I change mine twice a year,July and January. I ride all year round and use Rottella synthetic. Going on 25k now and no problems so far! I guess that averages out to 4k per oil change. always comes out pretty clean.

changed it twice in the past year, when i first got the bike, and before doing a track day

changed the oil filter both times too (though the second time was because the one I had used seemed quite small)

I run Rotella T6 and change about every 4K. It looks like it could easily go another 4K with just a filter change.
