My favourite, The St Andrews Hotel
St. Andrews Hotel
Great food, live music always and has been for years.
Georgeous babes.
Not a bad set of twisties both sides of the ride there (The Black Spur is up the road).
The Grog - looks ok and the punters don't seem to complain.
Bike parking out front (I notice the blokes with Hells Angels patches seem to get priority)

Rode up there last Saturday arvo and saw Phil Manning play, good times bros, good times.
So don't hide from me thread!!!! Show us your pub share it with others and slap a pic or 2 in.

Hey Rumpy great Idea for a thread.

My Choice of Hotel is the The Yarra Glen Grand, very relaxed good beers, food and entertainment. even closer to the Black Spur.

Those old farts from the Ulysses form up there most Saturday morns.

Went for Auction last Sunday reserve of 7 mil. They were dreaming got passed in which is good for us. The owner is Alison White a local Melbourne Actress.

Best part is it is walking distance from home.

Sorry no Pics :spank:

Wollombi Pub  All roads that lead to the pub are 1st class. Especially the road between Wollombi & to Broke. Tight, twisty & narrow. Their beer is always cold which is an added bonus.

I used to live in Wollombi and worked at the pub off & on. still have family there.

Miss living there.

Favourite pub though is The Lord Nelson in The Rocks. Whenever I 'come home' sure as hell make sure it gets a visit.

What kind of an example are you trying to show?

Whenever you are on two wheels, you should never mix alchohol & riding. It's a deadly combo.

Not sure what the statistics are abroad, but here in the states. 2/3 of motorcycle fatalities involving alcohol, they were below the legal limit of operating a motor vehicle. Meaning they were riding perfectly legal after having a couple of beers, but it was enough to effect their vision, judgement & balance which resulted them to crash & die.

Driving a car, keep on drinking you're on four wheels!

I dont think we are trying to present any type of bad example! and we are definitely not talking about getting hammered, and riding our bikes!

We are talking about decent pubs!

On the day that Ozzieboy, Benji, and myself stopped for lunch at the pub...we had one drink over an hour and a half long lunch!

And if you think Mikey's accident was influenced by this...your way of the mark Buddy!!!!

In fact if it was not for Mikey's superior riding skills, and quick thinking, to get his foot up and out of the way...then the story would of been a lot different!

So, whilst i appreciate your point, i think you are way off the mark, and need to have a good look at what your saying before you point the bone!!!!

It's pretty much common practise to stop for A cleansing Ale half way through a ride in Oz!

No-one is endorsing drinking and riding!

Now back to the business at hand, here is a photo from a particulary memorable day for us SA Fizzers...at the Brewery Pub in Hahndorf, up in the Adelaide Hills...

Did I say getting hammered? But that first picture kind of looked like somebody was having a good time. I just mentioned that even after one or two drinks, it can effect your riding ability. The biggest mistakes made by riders here in this county regarding drinking & riding is that they think that it's the samething as driving a car.

Having one drink during lunch, over a span of 1.5 hours should not have any negative consequences. Unfortunately, there are many who aren't as responsible.

Most of us here on this forum are adults, and make their own decisions. I just wanted to point out that you must keep the two separated. Not everyone may not make the best decisions when it comes to alcohol. Every country is different as each has it's own laws and acceptance when it comes to drinking. Just like smoking cigarettes, it's widely accepted based on what country you're from.

As far as the drinking and driving a car, I was just being sarcastic by pointing out that cars & bikes require different operational skills.

Driving a car, keep on drinking you're on four wheels!

So you can then have your vision & judgement impaired :shakehead:... Lose control , run a red light , cut a corner & injure or worse still KILL a fellow rider ??? Im lost in your logic that you berate us for having a SINGLE , that is 1 cold beer over and hour long lunch then tell us to drink up & be merry whilst driving a car :spank: :spank:........ In good old Aussie vernacular , PLEASE EXPLAIN !!!

Where in the OP that it was just one beer?

I did say that one beer over 1.5 hours is fine after it was noted later.

The point I was trying to make is that many riders mistakenly think that they can have a couple of drinks and operate their motorcycle the same way they do as if they were in their car, which is not the case.

Like I said, it takes much more operational skills to operate a bike since you are on two wheels. Here in the states, you can legally drive while you are enjoying a nice buzz up to a certain point which includes riding a bike. But the your diminishig skills is going to be affected more as a rider than a driver.

Anyways, I just noticed that it's an Aussie thread, as your customs is much different than ours. A destination to your favorite pub on your bike in Australia and having one drink might be something that is popular to do. And if this isn't ironic enough, I'm just about to leave and meet up with our Aussie friend AussieJules as he just rolled into Vegas.

I'll be sure to post a pic with my one drink for you guys. LOL

Yep, it's an Auusie tradition to stop and have a BEER at some sort of a half way point in a group social ride!

And re your observation that it looked like someone was having a good time in the OP, i reckon they just might of been having a great day...but i bet, as Rumpole is a Lawyer, University lecturer, and a man who counts Supreme Court Justice's as friends.....i dont reckon Rumpole is going to jeopardise anything by doing anything as stupid as drinking and riding!

Say hi to Jules & his much better half, Debbie, for us.....now there's a man who loves a Beer! Probably as much as any of us...is well known for his Home Brews, and love for SA beer!

And the rest of us Aussies will keep doing what we do best....keep this forum moving & grooving, with humuor, lots of posts & helpful info.

Actually, I seem to remember Mr. Rumpole saying he's off the stuff, so I'm sure he was OK to ride.

I do understand the concern from Vegas:thumbup: and agree that going to the pub for a few on the bike would be maybe not the smartest move. But more often than not when I go to the pub....I drink Coke, whether I'm riding or not:thumbup:. For a lot of Aussies I reckon it's more about the, "Oh Yeah! I've had a beer there once!" kind of thing when someone mentions a well known pub somewhere.:D

Enjoyed a couple of Brews and a Steak Sanga at this great little pub, just before Mikey tried to remove his foot, with the help of a 4 wheel drive!

Thats the spot guys

I actually met Mel Jurd as im sure so has Disco. I asked old Mel what went into his famous Jungle Juice. He said its a mix of all the crap you wouldn't usually drink at the pub. Port, Sherry etc He told me it was filthy stuff. Funny old bugger.

As for the drinking & riding debate...............

Wolfman hit the nail on the head.

I organised a ride last week where 50+ riders turned up for a 3 Beers Ride. We travelled over some brilliant roads & visited 3 pubs along the way. Wollombi was our 1st stop. It was an all day affair & we stayed well under the 0.05 limit by spacing our beers over 100km apart. A great day was had by all & the roads we traveled were only surpassed by the company we kept & the banter between fellow enthusiasts during out drinks breaks. We had 1 incident all day when a young bloke dropped his bike before we reached the 1st stop. Maybe it was the Red Bull & sausage roll he had for breakfast?

I have a wife & young daughter. There is no way I would risk anything that could leave them alone in this world.
When im out riding with my mates we ride responsibly & we drink responsibly. :D

Feral Brewing in the Swan Valley - their smoked porter is to die for
Mash Brewing in the Swan Valley - their Baltic porter is delicous
Elephant and Wheelbarrow in Northbridge - Guinness on tap and 3 tvs with sport - what else could you want ;)

Just to add to the drink/ride/drive.... I would have one middy of beer and drive. That would be my limit. I would never drink and ride - I personally couldn't handle it. I don't see a problem with others having one beer and riding, but I personally won't do it. I'm silly enough without having a drink :BLAA:

Okay, here's my one beer over our two hour dinner at the buffet inside the Planet Hollywood Casino here in Vegas (we have no pubs):(

As I mentioned the irony of this thread regarding the timing and Australia as here I am having a drink with our forum friend visiting from down under.

Georgeous babes.

So where are they then?

@Vegasrider: I see Bud and Coors Light, you said you were drinking beer.... where are they then?

This is a nice watering hole on a twisty ride: The Drummond Arms in Rooiels (pronounced roy else), about 20 ft above sea level an hour or so outside Cape Town. When you arrive you are given a shot glass of bikers' port, which is nice after riding some hectic twisties from Gordon's Bay...
